Title: Great Little tool for those with low vision.
Review: It is a great aid for low vision. I always forget my reading glasses and then need them. I can toss them into my coat or pants pocket without harming the lense and leave them there when I need a vision boost. It is just enough to read tiny labels on things. Great little tool and the leather cover and hinge is well designed.

Review: As my 92-year-old mother and I get older and have to take more prescription drugs, I wanted this to read the pharmacy’s tiny micro-print on the pill bottles. Even using my glasses or readers, I can’t make out the print half the time, which is super-frustrating. I have a magnifying glass on the top floor of my house (where my bathroom is) that I use for this purpose, but thought I would try this product for the bottom floor of my house (where my mother’s bathroom is) so I wouldn’t have to schlep the one magnifying glass between floors all the time. Right off the bat, it’s important to understand the difference between this “loupe” magnifying glass vs. a regular magnifying glass. A loupe provides higher magnification than a regular magnifying glass (in this case, 10x magnification instead of the usual 2x to 3x) and you hold it right in front of your eye (unlikely a regular magnifying glass, which you hold further away from your eye and what you’re trying to look at). When used correctly, this loupe works very well. It came with a faux leather sheath that would be nice-looking except that bewilderingly, it has the name of the manufacturer (Qirte, in both English and Chinese) and the words “magnifier of boutique” on both the front and the back. I always find it somewhat tacky when sellers put the name of the brand on the product and the sheath would be much nicer without it, so I’m docking a point for that. I was also slightly disappointed because I’d somehow gotten the impression from the photos that this might be a smaller magnifying glass with a loop on the sheath so that I could put it on my keychain, but that wasn’t the case. Not that it’s necessarily bad to have a larger magnifying glass, but I still would have liked a hanging loop. Overall, though, this is a very useful and functional product at an excellent price.
