Title: Quality tool at a great price
Review: I bought the rechargeable unit. Not a day goes by that I don’t use this. The magnification and lighting are superb. The measuring scale on its base is a great asset. This is a quality manufactured tool at a great price. I’m a geologist and absolutely love using this magnifier rather than my old hand lens because it lights up the specimen. The unit also has a UV mode that is great for checking possible fluorescence in rock.Many of the complaints from others have to do with the battery life. The magnifier requires 2 clicks to turn it off, or else the dim-lit UV light stays on draining the battery. This operator error can be eliminated by purchasing the rechargeable unit. There are no batteries to replace, you just plug it into a USB port to recharge.

Title: The red on/off button is easy to accidentally push!
Review: This is a great deal for the money, the image is bright and it works very well but there is one caveat. If you store the unit in the included vinyl case it becomes very easy to push the red on/off button without realizing it. This leads to the batteries being depleted without even knowing it. It is best to simply throw the vinyl case away and keep the box the unit comes in for storage. Or you could store the unit in the vinyl case and store both in the box. Another thing is that it is a bit tricky to get at the batteries but the included instruction sheet shows you how to do this.

Title: Buy batteries along with this from the start.
Review: This takes three AG7/LR927 batteries. The good. Bright, clear, small in the hand, easy to hold.The bad, it just came yesterday and the on/off switch protrudes heavily from the side, enough that it caused me to turn it on after placing it in its case and putting it away for THE FIRST TIME. So it killed the battery. I have since ordered more batteries for it. Do yourself a favor and buy a pack of batteries along with this.

Title: Worth the money
Review: Really impressed overall with this loupe. I use it (mostly) to inspect rock for gold ore, platinum, silver etc. The light is very bright, the battery lasts for weeks with regular use, and the uv light does what its intended to do. It comes with a light case and cleaning cloth. Great value for the money.

Title: Looks nice, but does not work well.
Review: A crummy little Loupe. It looks cool, but when placed on surface, it is not in focus. I have to raise it about 3/16″ for it to be in focus. There is a focusing helicoil, but it really does nothing – it doesn’t change focus or size. It just turns and goes up or down and does nothing.It actually looks pretty nice, but functionality fails.

Review: This is not 30X. I see others already said so – and showed photos. I should have taken the two minutes to read. I have an 8X and a 10X. This magnifies a little less than my 8x. We will assume it’s a mistake. As reviewer Mason said, ’30mm lens’ is what they probably meant. Now I must get a different one but I am keeping this because the large lens makes a wide and clear view. Sharper than my 8X. Nice quality lens, wrong description.You can see it’s clear but certainly not bigger than the 10X
