Title: good value, good image
Review: Better than other Fresnel lenses I’ve used – the large ones come in crystal clear cellophane envelopes but I would still recommend you take it out of the envelope to use it, the smaller ones come in frosted vinyl envelopes (the lens in my wallet stays nice and clean). Being Fresnel lenses, they DO have favored sides: if you’re holding the lens up against your eye/skin you should have the ridged side toward the ‘distant’ object; if you hold it closer to the object than to your eye then the ridged side should face your eye. (you can google why Fresnel lenses work this way, it’s more than I’ll type here)looking through with both eyes CAN be accomplished with the larger one but (again, goto google) that causes a lot larger angle of parallax and things will look excessively ‘deep’ on the object; not so much bad with a flat page, but makes 3D objects hard to converge/focus upon them (seeing double and distorted).All lenses were perfectly clean in their envelopes and had no scratches or damage.

Review: Before ordering this product, I posed the question of whether or not this magnifying sheet could lay flat on the page and still provide magnification. The answer I got was “yes, you can lay this flat on the page….”. This is incorrect. While the magnification is OK, it does NOT magnify when lying flat on the page, and needs to be held up a bit. This is fine for people who have no trouble holding up something while reading, but for those with arthritis or other issues holding the sheet up while reading is difficult. I will only be able to read a little bit at a time, since I cannot hold this sheet up for the entire time I wish to read. Disappointing!!
