Title: Perfect for first-time users
Review: Given the variety of communication devices available for families to use, it’s hard to know where to start. I think this little tool is a perfect first step. It lets you give a simply, hassle free introduction to talking devices. The buttons are easy to press and it feels virtually fool-proof right out of the box. While it is somewhat limited in its functionality for older children, it is ideal for those looking for a good introduction.

Title: Very nice communication device
Review: This Talkaroo AAC device is such a great value for the cost. At $14.99, you get a communication device with 12 preset buttons that will cover basic communications so that the device is ready to go right out of the box. You can also add 4 programmable custom messages or communications that are specific to the user. These will come in handy for specific needs for those with communication disorders. The device does come with batteries, which is super nice. It’s a very nice little device that will offer some quick communication. It would be nice for travel or on the go communication. The colors are vibrant and distinct, but I don’t know that it would be colorblind friendly since the device is green. But there are icons on each of the buttons that would help keep things distinct.

Review: The device is a simple but incredibly effective communication tool. It’s easy to use right out of the box no apps, no setup, and no complicated menus. My child was able to start pressing the buttons right away, and it quickly became a reliable way for him to communicate basic needs like “help,” “more,” and “all done.”I really appreciate how sturdy and portable it is. We can take it in the car, to school, or around the house without worrying about it breaking. The buttons are responsive and loud enough to hear, which helps reduce frustration during moments when he’s having trouble expressing himself.

Title: A simple device that could make a big difference
Review: I selected this device for my niece who’s on the autism spectrum and has limited verbal speech. Watching her try to express herself but not always be understood has been tough for everyone at my hoise. I wanted to find something that didn’t require apps, logins, or constant updates.It worked right out of the box. Batteries were already installed. The 12 preset buttons covered a lot of the basic things she needs to say throughout the day, and the 4 programmable buttons let us add phrases that fit her routine. Recording new ones was simple.The sound was clear, and the adjustable volume helped in different environments. Home, park, etc. The buttons took a little pressure to press, but that actually helped prevent random presses. She learned quickly which button did what, and within a few days, she was using it to make requests and respond to simple questions. The first time she said thank you using it, it hit me in the old feels box.The icons were simple and clear enough that she started recognizing them fast. The included carrying pouch protected the device and made it easy to bring along anywhere.For the price, this device offers real value, not just in dollars but in dignity and independence. It’s affordable, practical, and ready to use. No fuss, no muss.If you have a child, student, or family member who struggles to be heard, this little device might help give them a clear voice and a bit more confidence.

Title: Perfect for SLPs, teachers, or families
Review: AAC devices can run hundreds of dollars and are often hosted on tablets like ipads which can be easily damaged by any child, let alone one with a disability that inhibits their ability to understand they need to be gentle with their device. Also, some ASD kiddos never take to their AAC device but meanwhile you’ve invested so much already. This is a fantastic alternative! It is SO easy to use, the size is perfect for little hands, and if it gets damaged- it is very easy and affordable to replace! I love that you can change the voice from male to female and that you can record some of your own words to best fit your kiddo. The buttons are very easy to press and responsive. This device is durable and functions well. If you have a kiddo you are considering an ACC device for, this is a great place to start. Also, I believe all SLPs should have something like this in their practice to help kids find their voice.

Title: Sturdy and well designed
Review: It’s portable, smooth edged, lightweight, and works as described! The voices are a little awkward sounding but I like that there’s two voice options. You can program the extra buttons but it would be nice if you could override the programming on the others with your own voice, or your preferred terms (for example, if you could say “potty” or “bathroom” instead of “toilet”). Overall well designed product!

Review: My 6 year old autistic daughter has difficulty communicating her decisions on how she’s feeling and what to do. It can be quite difficult for her to respond to even basic questions like “Do you want some apple juice” and frequently results in frustration for both of us. The “Yes/No” buttons have changed everything. Now that she uses them daily, many of those small stressful moments have been removed.We also programmed one of the personalised buttons to “go outside,” and to my surprise, she began pressing it during the first week. She used to just stand by the door and became agitated, but now she can actually express her wants to go out. It seems like such a significant step forward.I was surprised by how calming the green design is. For her the green is very relaxing as many other communication devices appear clinical or overly busy. I believe she’s actually picking this one up and using it because it doesn’t overwhelm her the way other devices have in the past.I’m surprised how effective it is for something that was just been introduced. It’s easy to use, lightweight and simple, which is exactly what she needed to help her communicate her feelings. I would highly recommend to any mums / carers going though similar issues!

Review: My mum is a SEN teacher at a primary school. They have many teachers who are required for 1-1s. I saw this advertised and had to get it for her! Her and the SENCO department love it and are going to purchase some more!One of her students has difficulty speaking up and works alongside a 1-1. The 1-1 has given the Talkaroo to the student and showed them how to press “I need help” whenever they are stuck. The first few times, they pressed it for them to show how it worked. After a while, they started pressing it themselves without prompting.At first the class thought it was funny, but within an a day it just became part of the classroom. Now it’s simply another tool they know how to use. Mum has even made a poster showing the different buttons and when to press them, so it’s easy for everyone to understand.I honestly can’t recommend Talkaroo enough. It’s simple, effective, and already making a difference in my mums classroom. It definitely has my seal of approval.

Review: This is a good communicator for those who may not need / be capable of expressing a lot. The functions available on this one this communicator are rather basic. I really only use it if I cannot get enough function to type on my phone communicator. I do find it very helpful when I use it, though I wish that the volume did not reset each time the device is switched off as it does come on quite loudly, which I often forget and give myself a good scare.

Review: I bought this as an introduction to AAC and having 4 custom buttons has been so helpful. I set them up with words like park, ball, snack and mummy. Straight away it made it easier to communicate simple wants and needs and it felt amazing to see how quickly it was understood.The sound is loud and clear and the colours make it easy to spot the right button. It is small and lightweight so it can be taken out anywhere and doesn’t take up much space.It has been such a positive first step into AAC.I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a way to get started.
