Title: Great item – but use some muscle to open it upon arrival
Review: After a friend purchased one of these, I sought one out myself since I read physical books in addition to my Kindle. The item came assembled and had a sticker with instructions on how to open the desktop part. I was having the worst time of it, because it didn’t seem to want to budge and I was scared I was doing something wrong and might break it. I went through the reviews to see if I could find some guidance, and thankfully another user had addressed this issue. The arms under the desktop have very tight tension, so you have to use some strength to open the desktop. Once you do, there is a tool inside that you can adjust the tension on the arms to your liking.I have used this item nightly while I read. This has been money well spent!

Title: Useful addition
Review: Initial set up requires using the supplied wrench to loosen – slightly – bolts that govern height and angle. They’re on pretty tight but once loosened not a problem. Bean bag platform is warm on a lap but otherwise okay. Overall, worth getting.

Review: This is exactly what I needed. Due to neck issues I needed a book support that would also raise the book higher while still being in my lap. As others have stated it is a bit stiff opening the first time. There is a wrench included to loosen it but when I loosened it just a pinch it then would collapse under the weight of a larger book.It works perfectly for me and is fairly compact.

Title: Comfortable, Well-Designed Reading Stand – Great for Bed or Lap Use
Review: This reading book stand is very nicely designed and works especially well for home use. Right away, I noticed how well the soft, beanbag-style pillow base works. It allows you to set the stand on your lap at almost any angle, and it stays upright and firmly in place without sliding – which is excellent since most people will be using this on their lap or in bed without a flat surface underneath. The beanbag is also soft and comfortable to rest against you, making it pleasant to use for longer reading sessions. I barely feel it setting on me!I did struggle a bit figuring out how to open the storage compartment. The wooden desk portion sits on arm-style hinges so it can be positioned at different angles, and mine was VERY tight to open. While I appreciate that it’s sturdy and not loose, I wasn’t initially sure where to pull it open (as it wasn’t easily opening) and was worried I might break it. This may be something to note for older users, as you may need a little help opening it.The storage compartment underneath is lined with a felt-like material and is perfect for holding reading glasses, a few pens, or other small items. The stand is fairly bulky, so I wouldn’t plan to fly with it, but it could be worth bringing along on long car trips if you like having something to hold your book, iPad, or phone.It’s a comfortable, thoughtfully designed reading stand that works very well for lap and bed use.

Title: Nice quality, very supportive and flexible for use
Review: I have a few stands/holders for my iPad while relaxing in bed.The first thing I noticed is that this is a good quality item for the price. It feels and looks well-made. The same can’t be said for another one in this price range. The faux wood top doesn’t show laminate lines or edges. The base is soft with stretch material and no poorly stiched seams. The internal cubbies have a nice felt/flocked surface if you want to store anything in there.Mine was pretty stiff out of the box, but there’s an included wrench to adjust the tension of the hinges. It easily holds my iPad in place and it can be adjusted to be stiff enough to hold anything of it’s size. The range of motion is also more than I could ever use, so there are no concerns with limitations or fixed positions, height, or angle.The beanbag base adds more adjustment and forgiveness when placing it on my legs or lap. I can’t tell if it’s just me, but it is warmer on my legs than I imagined it would be. This is my only minor point to make.The page holders are convenient and tuck out of the way if you don’t use them. If I want to, I can use them to steady each side of the iPad.

Title: A book stand that works!
Review: I’ve tried a handful of bookstands, and this one is by far one of the best! The beanbag makes it so comfortable to use. The stand is rigid, so I have to shimmy one side then the other side to elevate the platform. Once it’s at the right height, it stays put and does not collapse. The springs that hold the pages back is also solid. It requires no assembly! Yup, I used it right out of the box. It has weight to it but very manageable. I kept the box for easy storage as I don’t want it to get dusty when not in use. Overall, this is a comfortable height adjustable book stand! Highly recommend.

Title: It’s okay
Review: Thought I’d like it and use it more than I do, but it’s okay.This is okay, it’s narrow so if you spread your legs much then it just kind of falls down or sits at an odd angle. I like this overall, it’s just hard for me to personally get used to using.I have noticed that my neck doesn’t ache as much when I do use it because it holds my reading at a steady location instead of my hands/arms naturally lowering themselves over time.The cushion material on bottom is soft and forms to your legs or whatever surface it’s on well. I’m a little concerned that the material holding the stuffing is quite thin and may easily rip and leave me with a big mess one of these days though.The worktop is solid but it’s just mdf so not quality material at all.The hinges are stiff and that’s good because it stays in whatever position you put it in.Overall this is good and all, I’m just having a hard time getting used to using it. I often just grab my reading and go at it. This is just another thing to do and to get ready or deal with in the bedroom
