How to Snorkel the Barrier Reef in Roatán, Honduras from a Cruise

  • 0:00 | the cruise port of ratan Honduras was
  • 0:03 | the main reason I booked this Cruise one
  • 0:07 | of my bucket list items has been to
  • 0:09 | snorkel the Barrier Reef in Rowan but
  • 0:12 | how exactly does one get there from the
  • 0:15 | cruise ship to complicate matters our
  • 0:17 | ship’s itinerary had changed from
  • 0:20 | docking at Mahogany Bay to Cox and hole
  • 0:23 | so I had some delays in getting updated
  • 0:26 | information from the cruise line hi I’m
  • 0:29 | travel advisor Annie and welcome or
  • 0:31 | welcome back to my channel AGP travel
  • 0:34 | planning where I share travel tips and
  • 0:36 | inspiration from my own travel
  • 0:38 | experiences and research for my clients

  • 0:43 | and my services join my free private
  • 0:45 | Facebook group family vacations and
  • 0:47 | adultsonly cruises by
  • 0:50 | Annie I was fortunate enough to snag a
  • 0:53 | Shore Excursion called West End Bay on
  • 0:56 | your own as I knew that this was the
  • 0:58 | very popular Beach with access to the
  • 1:01 | snorkeling
  • 1:02 | Reef however I had also read that West
  • 1:05 | End was full of Beach fendors and had a
  • 1:09 | reputation for pickpocketing and theft
  • 1:12 | with this in mind I decided it was
  • 1:14 | imperative to go with the tour guide
  • 1:16 | just to make the experience a little
  • 1:18 | less stressful for
  • 1:20 | me the transportation and guide was
  • 1:23 | offered through Princess Cruise Line for
  • 1:26 | reasonable is $50 per person however
  • 1:30 | once we got to the beach the tour guide
  • 1:32 | informed us that if we wanted to use the
  • 1:34 | beach club it would be another $20 per
  • 1:38 | person again wanting to have a safe
  • 1:40 | place to store our stuff we went ahead
  • 1:43 | and coughed up another
  • 1:46 | $40 if you’re enjoying this video and
  • 1:49 | finding it helpful or entertaining
  • 1:51 | please consider giving it a like by
  • 1:53 | clicking the Thumbs Up And subscribe to
  • 1:55 | my channel for More Travel cruising and
  • 1:57 | snorkeling content like this access to
  • 2:00 | the beach club also came with beach
  • 2:02 | louers in the shade small lunch and
  • 2:05 | unlimited drinks alcoholic and non this
  • 2:08 | ended up being a decent deal for us you
  • 2:11 | could probably get transportation from
  • 2:13 | your ship to West End for cheaper but
  • 2:16 | since we had never been to ran before
  • 2:18 | and like I said we just didn’t want to
  • 2:20 | stress about it so it was really easy to
  • 2:22 | rely on the bus provided by the shore
  • 2:24 | Excursion which also gave us a return
  • 2:27 | time and place to meet up for the ride
  • 2:29 | back to the ship
  • 2:31 | it was a decent walk from this beach
  • 2:34 | club down to West End where you enter
  • 2:37 | the water to snorkel The Reef be
  • 2:40 | prepared to say no thank you repeatedly
  • 2:42 | to the beach vendors who are literally
  • 2:45 | everywhere upon entry the water is very
  • 2:48 | shallow and reef and rocks are present
  • 2:50 | right away so do take
  • 2:53 | care just like the straight lights L
  • 2:56 | this time like a fire in a blaz got to
  • 3:00 | burn it down can’t be afraid to leave
  • 3:05 | this we got this far don’t know I see
  • 3:11 | danger us they know we burn down
  • 3:16 | the once you get out around the corner
  • 3:19 | the water gets much deeper but the
  • 3:21 | visibility improves and the reef is much
  • 3:24 | healthier there are lots of boats in the
  • 3:27 | area with tourists on snorkel excursions
  • 3:29 | so be careful to keep an eye out we
  • 3:31 | snorkel through the lunch hours which
  • 3:33 | helped keep the crowds a bit lower you
  • 3:35 | do need to be a good swimmer or use a
  • 3:38 | personal flotation device as it is deep
  • 3:40 | and there can be some current luckily we
  • 3:43 | had fantastic weather and the ocean was
  • 3:45 | fairly
  • 3:48 | [Music]
  • 3:54 | calm T we going to let it tonight
  • 4:00 | we going to let
  • 4:03 | it we going to let it
  • 4:09 | [Music]
  • 4:14 | [Music]
  • 4:38 | [Music]
  • 4:47 | just like spark that’s breaking out make
  • 4:52 | a turn back we know that there’s no room
  • 4:58 | for no we can turn back now I see danger
  • 5:04 | in your eyes they know burn down the
  • 5:10 | night just like the
  • 5:13 | sunrise you know that we going to
  • 5:17 | it we going to let
  • 5:21 | it we going to let it
  • 5:26 | just it
  • 5:30 | no
  • 5:37 | [Music]
  • 5:52 | [Music]
  • 6:00 | [Music]
  • 6:06 | [Music]
  • 6:16 | [Music]
  • 6:26 | we took a break to rest and returned to
  • 6:28 | the beach club to enjoy our included
  • 6:30 | lunch and drinks but then we went back
  • 6:32 | out and snorkel again because it was
  • 6:34 | just so
  • 6:36 | amazing hey Travelers we are here in
  • 6:41 | gorgeous Roan we just went out and
  • 6:44 | snorkled the reef and it was amazing um
  • 6:48 | but this is one of the places where they
  • 6:50 | always are telling you to you know be
  • 6:52 | careful watch your stuff from Pig
  • 6:53 | pockets and there are a lot of vendors
  • 6:55 | on the beach and stuff like that um so
  • 6:58 | just one quick little tip we wanted to
  • 7:00 | share with you is to do this with your
  • 7:07 | backpack
  • 7:13 | oh yeah so if you just strap it
  • 7:16 | onto your chair or wherever you’re
  • 7:19 | sitting I mean they could yeah they
  • 7:22 | could still potentially steal your stuff
  • 7:24 | but the number one way people seem to
  • 7:27 | steal things is snatch and grab
  • 7:30 | so if you at least just make it so that
  • 7:32 | it’s not easily to just grab your
  • 7:34 | backpack and walk off with it like this
  • 7:36 | you know just this simple little quick
  • 7:38 | hack just makes it one more step easier
  • 7:41 | to be that much more secure on the beach
  • 7:45 | when it was time we met up with the rest
  • 7:47 | of our group and got on the bus for the
  • 7:49 | return to the
  • 7:53 | ship when we’re getting ready to depart
  • 7:56 | from a destination one of my favorite
  • 8:00 | things to do is to wave to the people
  • 8:03 | and see what they’re doing like look at
  • 8:06 | these friends right here they were just
  • 8:08 | playing soccer on the
  • 8:10 | beach those some boys coming to play
  • 8:15 | too yep there they
  • 8:20 | go getting to visit these people is so
  • 8:23 | amazing that’s why I recommend everyone
  • 8:26 | at least once you need to try a cruise
  • 8:30 | it’s just such a cool way to see so many
  • 8:32 | places yes you’re just getting a
  • 8:35 | glimpse
  • 8:36 | but it can be a very Insight
  • 8:40 | Glimpse lots of people ride motorcycles
  • 8:43 | here we’ve noticed even like whole
  • 8:46 | families will fit onto one bike it’s a
  • 8:50 | very fuele efficient way to get around
  • 8:51 | the
  • 8:52 | island I wonder if these these kids must
  • 8:55 | have just got out of school we learned
  • 8:56 | that they go to school just in the
  • 8:58 | morning or just in the afternoon
  • 8:59 | afternoon because otherwise it’s too
  • 9:03 | hot oh yeah that’s the school right
  • 9:06 | there no wonder there’s so many kids
  • 9:17 | around and he’s leaving to the local
  • 9:20 | kids who just got out of school I just
  • 9:22 | keep mirroring them it’s so funny I love
  • 9:25 | it
  • 9:35 | she knowes
  • 9:37 | [Laughter]
  • 9:40 | [Music]
  • 9:53 | [Music]
  • 10:18 | goodbye Ro
  • 10:20 | hand till next time
  • 10:26 | [Music]
  • 10:50 | all in all it was a fantastic experience
  • 10:52 | and definitely one of my top snorkeling
  • 10:55 | destinations I have visited so far and I
  • 10:58 | visited quite a few you so if you would
  • 11:00 | like to see more videos from this
