Best Air Fryer Deviled Eggs Recipe

Don’t look now, but I put deviled eggs in the air fryer. And guess what? They’re real good. Like, never-make-a-deviled-egg-the-same-way-again good. I know, it’s bold to try a new take on a traditional recipe of which most people have very strong opinions, but it was worth it. And while I love a classic deviled egg, these texture- and flavor-packed air fryer deviled eggs have got me giddy.

Speaking of texture and flavor, let’s talk about the crunchy, game-changing exterior on these eggs. A combination of buttery Ritz crackers, crunchy panko bread crumbs, and a handful of pantry-pull seasonings make these deviled eggs extra special. Of course, I must pay tribute to the air fryer that turns our panko-Ritz breading magically crisp.

As for the yolk filling, I made sure to keep things nice and balanced. A little sweet (hello, sweet pickle relish), a little salty, and a little (optional) kick. The beauty of deviled eggs is that they’re easily customizable—so if you have a favorite way to season the filling, go for it! Keep on reading and you’ll also find some slight variations on seasonings and garnishes.

Do I have to use the air fryer to hard boil the eggs?
Nope! Feel free to use the traditional stovetop method if that’s what works for you. Just be sure to cook them long enough so that they’re hard-boiled, not soft-boiled.

Can I make these ahead of time?
Yes and no. Because these are air fried (i.e., wonderfully crisp on the outside), they’re best enjoyed freshly made; however, to get a little ahead of the game, you could hard-boil and slice the eggs, make the yolk filling, and keep them stored separately in the fridge for 1 to 2 days before continuing on with the recipe. If you only want to prepare the eggs ahead of time, store the unpeeled, hard-boiled eggs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Feel free to customize the yolk filling to your taste:
Deviled eggs are often a matter of personal taste. Everyone has a way of seasoning them, and we’re totally here for that. Feel free to tweak the seasonings here and there to make it just how you like it. Like it a little sweeter? Add more relish or drizzle in a tiny bit of honey. Like it spicy? Add a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce. Don’t like Dijon? Use all yellow mustard. The point is, you do you.

The key to these deviled eggs is layers of flavor:
That’s why you’ll notice that I season both the raw egg mixture and the panko mixture before dredging the hard-boiled eggs. Flavor is in the details, folks!

Get creative with garnishes:
Try topping your air fryer deviled eggs with bacon, chopped or sliced gherkin, a dash of hot sauce, or even a drizzle of hot honey. Not into dill? Try parsley or chives instead for a bit of freshness.
