Title: Very useful little magnifier
Review: Great little tool. Good for reading small amounts of text. Folds up small, light is bright and easy to turn on and off, magnifying strength is just right, battery lasts a long time. We have one in the kitchen, office, laundry room, bathrooms. I have low vision and this is the best magnifier I have used.

Title: The light makes this good item great!
Review: I just received this item and took it to my grandmother who has macular degeneration. I put in a triple A battery and showed her how to turn it on and off. She went right into the kitchen and started examining the stove knobs. “I can see them great!”, she said. The other magnifying glass did not have an attached light, and even though it was a little stronger, it did not work as well for her. It has a nice but not too heavy weight for her 86 year-old hand to hold, and the handle being offset is easier for her to use. You lefties out there might want to inquire about one made for you. This one is for right hand use. The LED light is not super bright, but works well in a low lit area to focus on what you want to see. It is a 3X magnification. Thanks Amazon for fast shipping of this item!

Title: Nice clear lens – BUT SMALLER THAN YOU THINK!
Review: I must have 25+ magnifiers of different strengths, brands, sizes, and styles, but I’m still searching for the perfect one. This could have been close to the one, but it’s too small. The lens is nice and clear, not as good as my Eschenbach but much better than many magnifiers using Fresnel (wavy) lenses. The light is just OK. Adequate for very small area only. This is NOT for reading books. It’s for labels, other small print, and the comics. The lens is just too small to make this useful for reading a book or even some magazine articles as you have to constantly move the magnifier. I wish they had made it in a 6″ or 7″ width. As to my (expensive) Eschenbach magnifier, the lens is fantastic but it too is too small for books.

Title: Very clear magnification!
Review: So many magnifiers have fuzzy or distorted magnification: the Carson is clear and sharp. It totally helps with the small print and those teeny, tiny fonts in the Sunday Times puzzles. I love that the handle just folds in, so it’s not a huge presence left on the kitchen table (or anywhere else you want to leave it!) The viewing size is quite adequate for my needs. Mostly, though, it’s the clarity that I appreciate and the ultimate reason I chose it over several others.

Title: Smartly Engineered
Review: This product has it all and makes a lot of sense the way it is put together. It was delivered in bomb proof shipping package as everthing is these days. It was everything it said it was. It has a bright LED, controlled by an easy to reach thumb operated switch that stays on or off. The switch was covered by a snap in plastic door which is the first thing you remove and stick in a drawer somewhere to be forgotton forever. The handle, as advertised, sits flush against the side or swings out to any angle that works for you. The battery compartment is way cool. You pull on the handle, the cover slides off and right there is the AAA battery assembly. Couldn’t be easier. No stupid battery compartment door that falls off or has to be taped on. The magnification is great. I didn’t do any testing of the magnification claims but it was plenty for my needs. My wife and I had to ID some tiny pills and she said it was worth every penny. And it was less than 13 bucks!

Title: No light
Review: Magnifying glass is sufficient, but battery powered LED stopped working after six days and six uses. Replaced batteries, cleaned terminals, all to no avail. Very disappointing. Keep ordering magnifying glasses wit LED, and none work.

Title: get AAA batteries which are not provided
Review: It is discounted for prime and probably because the batteries are not included, the lens is small and 3X might work for some purposes…this is the 4th lighted magnifier I have purchased on amazon. The first was an LED lamp which is about 2 years old, uses almost no power and falls over because of a base that never really assembled correctly. The LEDs are about to die, they flicker on but I still prefer the original LED floor lamp and look forward to more LED floor lamps perhaps with better aesthetic appeal. The second is a fluorescent on wheels that provides very good light and magnification for sewing and reading, but looks like it belongs in a dental office. I avoid fluorescent light for health reasons. I am hyperacute and the fluorescent bulbs emit what for me is an audible buzz, which bothers me if I use it for more than an hour at a time. So it’s okay for a short reading or sewing session. And in my kitchen, fluorescent bulbs were installed in the prefab ceiling, so I do not yet have a LED replacement tube to fit that prefab 1975 fixture.I have been writing about LEDs as replacement for incandescent bulbs since about 2010. The obvious benefit is the LED drain less energy, last longer. The less obvious health benefit is they do not emit the “buzz” which may affect the health in ways unseen. So I would not buy another #2.#3 was a visor with rectangular lenses that came in a case. The visor has a bulb somewhere and it might work for someone who deals with jewelry but it was clumsy for my use of the sewing machine, the floor lamp magnifier works best for that, I can roll it over to the machine or take my work to my desk.So this was #4, I wanted a larger handheld magnifier that I can take over to whatever I am doing to look at 2″ or so. I cannot evaluate it fully without the battery. I will endeavor to edit this review to four star or above if the battery/light make a difference.I like the folding hand. It’s too small to use for reading fine print on contracts. It might be good for examining stamps, coins, jewelry, something small. It is light-weight and will fit in a shirt pocket.I think the price should be somewhere between what I paid and what the original price was but should include at least one AAA battery, a size I do not normally have in the house (I have lantern batteries, D, C, AA). The package was not what I would call “frustration free” but no different from usual packaging from mass produced items. Overall if it works with a bright LED light, it’s worth the price paid. I was surprised it came on a Saturday (within 2 days of the order or less) with coffee, a thermometer, some beer-making malt…which tells me many are sold at this price, so I will give *** upfront before getting the AAAs in the next shipment because it’s here and it appears to be as described. I think even if it is fantastic I would not give more than **** because for a disabled person using amazon to avoid going out, not giving me one battery with a device that requires a battery is somewhat thoughtless. I cannot buy one battery, I have to buy 10 batteries, wait at least 3 days to use the first device, etc. It is equally my responsibility to read the product description to see somewhere (?) it must say “needs AAA not provided” but I missed it. My bad. I still deduct a star because Az makes batteries with its name on them and guarantees this device but provides no battery despite super-fast shipping, when it could charge one dollar more and put a battery in there in consideration of someone who does not go shopping for batteries easily or often.

Review: I have several similar magnifiers, and this is the one that I prefer. There are other, smaller that fit in a shirt pocket, so better when going out, but now I have 2 of these on hand, so I can easily reach for them at home.quick delivery, and the additional light is useful.
