Title: The BEST for the severe hard of hearing!
Review: This phone was the “ANSWER” for my mom who is 103. She’s nearly blind, severely hard of hearing and couldn’t answer the phone, let alone hear it ring. Once we went to the menu button and LOCKED in “Boost” we had a phone we could easily converse with our mom who lives in a nursing home. Now she hears the phone ring, answers it and we can hear each other. And I got wonderful costumer service from the staff at clarity who took the time to address my specific needs with talking with my mom. Thank you, Thank you!!

Title: GREAT TELEPHONE FOR ANYONE SEVERELY HEARING IMPAIRED!
Review: I bought this base Clarity XLC8 phone plus (2) additional Clarity XLC8HS handset phones for my (90) year old parents who are both severely hard of hearing. I seldom write reviews, but these phones worked so well for them that I wanted to let others know about them and highly recommend them for anyone who is hearing impaired. These phones do come with a lot of built in “bells and whistles”, but all my folks use is the keypad to dial, the talk button to answer and hang up, and the boost button to amplify the caller’s voice when necessary. These amplified telephones are a God send for my elderly parents, and they could not be happier with them. One last comment…please do not let the goofy 1-star review comments impact your decision about whether or not to buy this phone. They sound like people who never took the time to read the User Guide to learn how to properly set up and use the phone correctly. Get this phone and you will not be disappointed with it!

Title: Muffled outgoing voice.
Review: Just arrived the other day. Hooked it up, went through all the directions and settings. The good: Loudness on our end is great. Just what we were looking for.The bad: Everyone we’ve talked to on the other end of the line says our voice is muffled so bad they can’t hardly understand us. Like we’re inside of a tin can or with a mouth full of food. Adjusting settings doesn’t seem to help nore does the outgoing voice boost feature. Also the volume adjustment roller makes scratchie noise when adjusting up or down so is either a cheep part or bad potentiometer.A separate add on phone came in today and it is the same way.

Title: Not as useful as I’d hoped
Review: I bought this a year ago for an elderly relative who has hearing aids. I had high hopes for its ability to amplify, to slow, and also because it has a built in answering machine. He finds the features too hard to use so I’ll look for something else. The messages on the machine usually sound muffled, and are often soft and hard to decipher (even when I listen to them). The announcement of the caller ID isn’t spoken by a real person so the enunciation and pronouncement is almost always hard to understand what is being said (even by me ) and the announcement persists though I followed the directions to turn it off. I haven’t found a way to delete all old messages en masse For a long time, he thought he was deleting them by hitting the big button at the top, which is the power button. Now he leaves them for me to delete at our weekly visits, and the process is tedious – he gets a lot of calls from scammers and unknown numbers, hangups etc. As far as I can tell, the only way to delete messages is to start listening to them again one by one and hitting delete after each message starts. I find it hard to work with adjusting the settings via the handset and canceling out if I make a mistake or want to back out of the option without making changes once I realize what it is, and with confirming that it took the adjustment I was trying to make. The boost thing aggravates him rather than helps the way I’d hoped – it’s either so loud that callers already speaking normally sound like they’re screaming, or if he turns it down and a “low talker” calls, he can’t hear what they’re saying and get the volume correct after they’ve already started talking, so he gives up and tells them he can’t hear them and hangs up. I don’t think he’s ever remembered to try the SLOW button, though I explained how to use it and we did a practice call from my cell phone in another room to demonstrate it and play it back on the answering machine. There wasn’t room on the machine to label the answering machine buttons so he could tell which were play vs delete etc – I stuck some masking tape on them, but it’s too hard to read at a glance, so he just gave up hitting anything but play. My opinion: Though it has many features, it’s not easy enough to use or clear enough in enunciation to convert hard of hearing folks who used old land lines and separate answering machines from the analog days for decades before everything went digital. If they never used a vcr, smart phone or home computer, they’ll have the same problems with this machine and shun it too.

Title: Muffled sound
Review: The quality of the sound is muffled from the ear piece. The only way to use this phone is turning on speaker. Using speaker the phone works fine.

Title: Nice and loud
Review: I personally found this to be an excellent product for those that are hard of hearing. It has volume control, tone control, as well as volume boost. A few too many bells and whistles for my 91 yr old mother. I did return it but would recommend it for someone that is willing to learn how to use it.

Review: This phone has very good volume and sound quality. It does take some time to get used to adjusting the volume in connection with your hearing aids, but when you get used to it , it works very well. I am thinking about getting a connecting hand set for the living room.
