Title: Couldn’t Put This Down
Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Credence by Penelope Douglas is an unforgettable, addictive read that completely pulled me in from the first page. The character development was phenomenal, especially watching Tiernan grow into her own voice and finally discover who she truly is. Jake, Noah, and Kaleb created such a complicated, raw, and emotional dynamic that kept me hooked through every chapter. The forbidden and taboo elements made the story even more intense, pushing boundaries in a way that only Penelope Douglas can pull off. I loved how the love triangle wasn’t just about romance, but about self-discovery and healing. Tiernan’s journey toward peace and belonging was moving and powerful, making me root for her every step of the way. Each of the men brought something unique to the story, and their relationships with Tiernan were layered and meaningful. This book was emotional, tense, and deeply passionate in all the best ways. A bold, thought-provoking story that will stay with me for a long time.

Title: Good but a little unfulfilled?
Review: I liked this book for the most part. While it isn’t an RH, and I get why, I felt like the ending didn’t do justice to Noah in particular. My heart breaks for him a little because I felt like everyone did him dirty, and he deserved so much better. That being said, I really loved him and the other characters. They were well written, there was some swooning, and the plot line worked for me. This was a good quick read.

Title: This books 5 star for sure!
Review: Title: CredenceAuthor: Penelope DouglasGenre: Dark Contemporary Romance / Age Gap / TabooRating: ★★★★★ (5 stars)⸻“Wild, taboo, and completely unputdownable—Credence dares to go where most books won’t, and it does it so well.”Penelope Douglas absolutely shattered my expectations with Credence. This book is bold, steamy, and emotionally complicated in a way that grabs you from page one and never lets up. It’s not your typical romance—and that’s what makes it so powerful. It’s about trauma, desire, freedom, and what happens when the rules of society are stripped away.Tiernan is such a complex, raw character. Raised with wealth but neglected emotionally, she’s completely unmoored after her parents’ deaths. Watching her find herself—sexually, emotionally, and mentally—in the wild isolation of the mountains with three very different men is as intense as it is unforgettable. Jake, Kaleb, and Noah each bring something unique to the story, and the chemistry between them is explosive.⸻What to Expect:Trigger Warnings:• Grief / death of parents• Age gaps• Taboo relationships (guardian/ward dynamics)• Explicit sexual content• Emotional manipulation• Themes of isolation, trauma, and healing⸻Spice Level:5/5 — Extremely spicy with a heavy focus on sexual awakening and taboo exploration. Very mature and unapologetically graphic.⸻Tropes & Themes:• Age gap romance• Guardian / ward• Taboo / forbidden love• Sexual self-discovery• Love triangle (or square)• Grumpy/silent love interest• Coming-of-age with adult themes• Found family, healing after grief⸻My Thoughts:I could not stop reading. It’s wild, emotional, and yes—deeply taboo—but somehow Penelope Douglas makes you care about every character, even when you’re unsure where it’s going. The emotional weight behind Tiernan’s growth, the way each relationship challenged and revealed a different part of her, made the story feel real even in its most unreal moments.Kaleb absolutely stole my heart—the quiet, brooding strength he showed, his protectiveness, the slow unfolding of who he really is underneath the silence? Incredible. And the emotional payoff? Chef’s kiss.⸻Final Thoughts:Credence is unlike anything I’ve ever read. It’s bold, daring, and deeply layered beneath the spice and shock value. If you love taboo, high-stakes emotion, and a heroine finding her power in the unlikeliest of places, this book is a must-read.It’s not for everyone, but if it is for you—you’ll never forget it.

Title: What did I just read?!
Review: Credence by Penelope Douglas2.5-3 starsSpice: 🔥🔥🔥🔥 /5I am going to struggle to write this review. The writing was relatively good. The plot and the story line is a different beast LOL1. Read all the triggers2. The main character needs to see a therapist3. WHAT DID I JUST READ?4. Actually, all these characters need to see a therapistTiernan is the main female character which I mispronounced in my head every time I read the name. Unique name. I don’t normally read too many young adult books anymore as I am 35 years old, however my new favorite Book TikToker recommended this book, so I felt like I needed to give it a shot. I knew it was going to be forbidden, but I don’t think I quite realized how forbidden and kind of weird it was going to be.As a mom of two, I kind of really struggled with the whole uncle and niece thing. I knew they weren’t related by blood and had never really met before. It was just weird thinking of my daughter being in that situation. I am usually iffy about age gap romance too and even if this has been slanted towards that, this age gap was WIDE.I didn’t understand why all the men (besides the obvious case of her being an attractive 17- and 18-year-old through this book) wanted her. AND that they were all OK with ‘sharing’ her. And not just a random group of men, but a father and his sons. That part was cringe. There is a threesome involved in this book and the fact that there are two actual blood relations involved (plus, it didn’t seem like their first time doing this), was so cringe-worthy to me. It took away the sexiness of it. It made it more incestuous and gross to me.I don’t want to give away the ending. I did like the ending despite not feeling connected to the ending. Was this book way too long for what was given to us? Sure was. Did I just want the book to be over so I could move on? Sure did.I do recommend reading the Goodreads reviews on this book after you finish for a good chuckle LOL#avidreaderbookblog #readingislife #bookblogger #bookbloggerofinstagram #bookbloggers #romance #romancebookstagram #romancebookstagrammer #romancebookstagrammers #forbidden #angst #forcedproximity #bookbloggersofinstagram #penelopedouglas #penelopedouglasbooks

Review: I ordered this book and began reading it, thinking it was gonna be really dark and questionable. But it only had like a moment or two that were a bit sus. The rest was very mild at best. I don’t get why people try to cancel a writer just because of stuff like this. The writing in itself was very compelling and it kept me hooked. I will buy more titles from Penelope. And I hope she doesn’t pay any mind to prejudiced reviews. Essentially, if you don’t like it, don’t consume it. Read the trigger warnings, inform yourself on what the book is about instead of throwing fists at the writer.

Review: *Credence* by Penelope Douglas is an exhilarating and emotionally charged novel that masterfully blends romance, suspense, and psychological depth. The story follows Tiernan de Haas, a young woman thrust into an unfamiliar and isolated world after the sudden death of her parents. Douglas crafts an intense and immersive narrative that explores themes of grief, self-discovery, and the complexities of human desire. What sets *Credence* apart is its daring exploration of taboo and forbidden relationships, which Douglas handles with both sensitivity and boldness. The characters are vividly drawn, each with their own scars and vulnerabilities, making their interactions all the more compelling and unpredictable. The remote Colorado setting adds to the novel’s tension, creating a hauntingly beautiful backdrop that mirrors the characters’ inner turmoil.Douglas’s writing is both gripping and poetic, keeping readers on the edge of their seats while delving deep into the emotional landscapes of her characters. *Credence* is not just a romance novel; it’s a thought-provoking journey into the darker corners of love, identity, and survival. It’s a book that will leave readers breathless, questioning the boundaries of morality and the nature of true freedom. For those looking for a romance that challenges conventions and lingers long after the final page, *Credence* is a must-read.
