Title: Advice Columnist With A Killer Motive
Review: I can’t help but love Debbie. Sure, she’s a bit secretive, unpredictable, vengeful, and dangerous but she’s the best wife and mother around. I love the fact that she’s an advice columnist. It’s a twisted take on Dear Abby!Debbie has a family and is down on her luck. Lately, it seems her husband and daughters are also experiencing some unfortunate situations. Debbie is the person to have on your side if people aren’t being nice.I liked this book so much. I love all of Freida McFadden’s books. This one will surely be a limited series or movie. It’s a lovely disturbing thriller that I enjoyed listening to. Julia Whelan, January LaVoy and Scott Brick are masters at their craft. I have listened to other books they have narrated and they are some of my favorites!

Title: Fast-paced revenge thriller !
Review: ‘26 – 4 STARSDESCRIPTION : Sometimes, enough is enough. Debbie Mullen is losing it. For years, she has compiled all of her best advice into her column, Dear Debbie, where the wives of New England come for sympathy and neighborly advice. Through her work, Debbie has heard from countless women who are ignored, belittled, or even abused by their husbands. And Debbie does her best to guide them in the right direction. Or at least, she did. These days, Debbie’s life seems to be spiraling out of control. She just lost her job. Something strange is happening with her teenage daughters. And her husband is keeping secrets, according to the tracking app she installed on his phone. Now, Debbie’s done being the bigger person. She’s done being reasonable and practical. It’s time to take her own advice. And now it’s time for payback against all the people in her life who deserve it the most.REVIEW :I’ve read 14 books so far; a “quick-read” author. 11/14 books have been 4/5 stars as listed below:Dear Debbie (‘26 – 4 Stars), The Intruder (‘25 – 5 Stars), The Crash (‘25 – 4 Stars), The Boyfriend (‘24 – 4 Stars), The Housemaid is Watching (“24 – 4 Stars), One by One (‘20 – Read ‘23 – 4 Stars), The Perfect Son (‘19 – Read ‘23 – 4 Stars), Ward D (‘23 – 5 Stars), The Housemaid’s Secret (‘23 – 5 Stars), The Housemaid (‘22 – 5 Stars) and Never Lie (‘22 – 4 Stars).PLUS three 3-Star reads :The Teacher (‘24 – 3 Stars), The CoWorker (‘23 – 3 Stars) and The Inmate (‘22 – 3 Stars).SKIPPED The Tenant (‘25) due to lots of bad or so/so reviews !!! and description didn’t interest me.Lots of bad reviews on on this book on Facebook. Let’s see what I think.Revenge-type tale that moves along very quickly. At the beginning I felt it was a little disjointed but all the pieces did start to come together. I loved how the paybacks were dealt out. Well done !

Title: Because I had FUN!
Review: You know what? I’m rounding up to 5 ⭐️This was a short, nonstop, pure entertainment kind of read and honestly??? That’s exactly what I didn’t know I needed in a thriller.I haven’t picked up a Freida book in a while because they kinda fell off for me, but this one felt fresh again. I was locked in, fully invested, and having a great time the whole way through. The audio? So good. Highly recommend. Was it technically a thriller? Debatable. Was it a damn good time? Absolutely. 😂

Title: A one afternoon read
Review: I love Frieda McFadden books. My brain snaps them up and chews through them like bubble gum. This book is no exception, and I read it in a day. I can’t normally do that—I’m not that fast a reader generally—but McFadden’s books, like I said, are bubble gum for the soul. This story catches a woman in the middle of a midlife crisis. Her husband is keeping secrets from her, and she’s got secrets she’s keeping too. Her teenage daughters are growing apart from her, and she’s not quite sure she likes the direction they’re headed. She’s got neighbors and friends written in that glorious, unapologetic, mean-girl-on-steroids McFadden way. Oh, and she’s an advice columnist who counsels other women with issues just like hers… just to twist the shank. She’s on the edge from moment one. But she’s lovable and pulled together in a very harrowing way. Debbie does everything perfectly in the face of what’s going on in her life and relationships. Her garden is perfectly grown—every flower in its place, and a place for every flower. She mothers and wives just as beautifully, and she’s a good neighbor and friend. She’s all of those things. Except when she’s not.If you get on her bad side, she’ll even the score. That doesn’t just mean crossing her—if you cross her children or husband, she’s got fixes up her sleeve. The teetering-on-the-edge energy is an eminently readable hook, because you feel for the woman. This book got read so quickly because it’s McFadden at her best: slicing through the emotional and psychological heart of people and their relationships. One of my favorite parts is a whole slew of drafts for her advice column that cut to the heart and chase of advice you’d really like to give, but wouldn’t. They’re humorous and dark and go down smooth and layered like 70% cacao. I know—bubble gum and chocolate—but it’s like both. A train wreck that, when we enter the story, is already unstoppable. And her Alice in Wonderland advice? She gives herself and others such good advice—and she follows it herself. She’s no hypocrite.I have a thing with McFadden’s endings. They often feel abrupt or rushed, or just halted with sudden new information that is unsatisfying. For me, her endings are not her strong point, and I don’t read her for them, I read her because she tells a good story leading up to an ending that I can take or leave. That says something to me. She writes some compelling and devious characters and storylines that can withstand a meh ending. This one, though, had an ending I could get on board with! The dimpled dark twist at the end is believable and un-rushed—which is funny, because the whole story feels fast paced yet fully thought out and rounded with complexities and twists that made me read it a great gobbling hurry.Way to go, McFadden! Definitely one of her better stories, and it had me hooked from page one. You should definitely give this one a read.

Review: A Freida McFadden novel is always a roller-coaster: a fast, fun ride with enough twists and turns to satisfy. Debbie seems boringly typical mom to her two daughters, but they have no idea what bubbles beneath her surface and how deeply rooted in her own past trauma that her protectiveness extends. If Debbie is wronged, she will seek revenge. And a whole cluster of wrongs befall her, her husband, and her daughters, so we get to see Debbie get to work on vengeances both petty (neighbors playing music too loudly) to extreme (although you might understand if you’ve had a bad boss.). Suspend your disbelief, hop aboard, and enjoy the FMcF coaster.
