Title: Very good sound, versatile, offers many features BUT most require using Cearvol’s proprietary app
Review: Having tried and reviewed quite a few hearing aids these did comparatively very well however; there is a key issue discussed in CONS. Here are my observations (↑ PROS, ↔ NEUTRAL, ↓ CONS):PROS↑ Hearing aid sound quality is very good; almost lifelike in more than one “Scene Mode”.↑ 4 “Scene Modes” are: Indoor, Conversation, Restaurant, Traffic; each sounds different (a big plus).↑These aids are “hidden in plain sight”, i.e., they have an Apple iPod-like look (vs. hearing aids).↑ They sit securely and nicely in my ears and are comfortable.↑ On board control button functions:—❶ 1 second press changes *4 volumes with 1, 2, and 3 beeps, then “Maximum volume” prompts.—❷ Double-click changes 4 “Scene Modes” with mode name prompts, e.g., “Indoor Mode”, etc.↑ There was no feedback (squealing / screeching) at any time.↑ They paired well via Bluetooth (for app use, listening to music, etc., through the aids).↑ Listening to music through the aids (Bluetooth) was excellent to me (but I am not an audiophile).↑ It is possible to do a sound test in the Demo Mode” without creating an account.↑ 12 hour usage battery can provide 2 extra charges from the charging / storage case.NEUTRAL↔ Battery life could be better.↔ It would be great if “Low Energy” Bluetooth was used (to save battery power).CONS↓ Many features are only available using proprietary app (a big issue to me) for 2 reasons:—❶ I value my privacy and personal information.—❷ Apps (and companies) come and go all the time. No app means loss of features including:——— Take and use the hearing test to customized your aids.——— 10 via app vs. 4 onboard volume levels.——— Ability to upload your own audiogram or your hearing test results for aid customization.——— Synchronizing the volume level of both aids.——— Noise Reduction on or off.——— Voice Enhancement.——— Directivity: On uses sound directly ahead and Off uses 360 degree sounds.——— Use the Equalizer.OVERALL, I have mixed feelings about these hearing aids. They do have very good sound quality, music sounds great, the onboard controls (touch buttons) are easy to use, and 2 critical features, volume and “Scene Modes” do NOT require the use of the proprietary app. I would like these much better if all features were available without using the app for the 2 main reasons listed in CONS above. Included are the 2 hearing aids, charging / storage case, USB C charging case, 7 pairs of silicone ear tips (2 types in various sizes), and the Instruction Manual. In fairness I still feel they are 4-star worthy. [3.5 stars]
