Title: Knife edge inspection
Review: This works out great for me. I use it to inspect the edge of knives after sharpening. It seems perfect, if not overkill, for this purpose. Before I got this microscope I thought I was pretty good at sharpening knives. But now that I have the microscope I know that I was already pretty good at sharpening knives.

Title: Dig it.
Review: I bought this as a tool for my sharpening business, and it’s one of the better purchases I’ve made. It really helps you develop your process, check your results, understand what your abrasives are really doing. I’m very happy with it overall. So my main use-case is looking at knife edges; bear that in mind. It loses a star over some minor gripes.First: the tray that is meant for holding slides (and is backlit)…is a dead player, I suspect. I plug it in to charge, nothing happens. It feels way too light to have a battery in it, but I don’t see a battery compartment to open. I don’t use it with slides, but I’d be bummed if I bought it for that. The focus knob works adequately, once I figured out how to use it. I initially thought I was supposed to loosen the tension knob, move the screen, then lock the tension knob down. And I was constantly running out of range on the ‘fine focus’ knob. Turns out, I was just being silly. You tension it until it stays put on its own, then turn the knob. Then you can normally use just that to focus, and ignore the fine-focus control on the camera. A less fiddly mechanism that doesn’t need a tension knob would be nice, but…this one works, and at this price point it’s reasonable.I wish the base was more locked-down in rotation. It just has a plastic locknut-type-thing that doesn’t get very tight. Easy to bump it, and the detail or entire item you’re trying to look at flies out of frame. If you’re trying to change magnifications, it’s almost a certainty you’ll do this. I’m trying to think of a good DIY solution. On the topic of magnifications: I don’t really get it. Maybe I need to learn more. The 2500 (max) setting gets some jaw-dropping shots, when you can use it, but it really only works for quite thin objects. You have to put the camera basically on the deck in order to focus it. That’s the one you use for slides, I suspect.Meanwhile, if I frame and focus something at 1000x, then switch to 1500x, I have to move the camera WAY up to focus…and the results look identical (really, I compared). I don’t know much about microscopes or optics, but I’m not sure what I could be doing wrong. I’m not a scientist, I just turn the knob until it’s not blurry.I did lose a couple images once; they weren’t on the card when I read it from my computer. I think I shut it down right after taking them, and I’m guessing it didn’t have time to finish writing. them. Just conjecture, but seems like it could/should be a software fix as there’s no hard power switch.Lastly: the thing’s just fun to play with. Currency looks amazing. Junk mail and styrofoam packaging become objects of wonder. My kids like it, but I’m way more impressed. This thing would have been literal magic when I was their age (and I’m not *that* old). I bought it as a professional tool, but even for novelty/curiosity alone: it’s a good buy.

Title: Great scope, works well.
Review: This scope does a good job. Magnification is excelent. It even comes with a calibration slide, nice. Assembly was easy once I got everything sorted out. The build quality is a good one with very minor stability issues at high magnification. It helps to have the included remote at the higher magnifications, helps elemenate some of the stability issues. Batter life is perty generous. One charge can last me up to a month depending on how much use it gets. When off it can last even longer. This is an easy, uncomplicated, good addition for anyone that needs an entry level scope.

Title: Great value, works amazing, just a handy tool to have!
Review: I’m floored at how well this works. The screen is sharp, has good color, and requires very little setup outside of putting it together. One feature that wasn’t advertised is that it has a rechargeable battery as well so you don’t even need it plugged in all the time. I haven’t used the PC connection software yet, and probably won’t as the screen is entirely sufficient. The attached remote has quick capture buttons for the camera and you can change the resolution for the photos being saved to the included micro SD card.If you even remotely have an interest in anything hobby, collecting, electronics, soldering, or magnify anything at all, get this. It’s a great deal for the price.

Title: Not enough resolution to be useful
Review: I was looking for a portable microscope solution. This one was recommended to me. I’ve owned and operated and scientific instrument sales and service company for many decades, specializing in microscopes among other equipment. I’ve tried using this for pretty low magnification tasks and can honestly say that the image is so poor that it’s useless.

Title: Perfect for inspecting knife edges
Review: Bought this to examine knife edges during the process of sharpening. After a few passes over a belt sander, the microscope is perfect for inspecting the edge for a burr, nicks, or cracks. The adjustable light really helps to reduce the glare.
