Title: It works fine
Review: I initially bought this to dig splinters out of my son’s hands and fingers as he seems to get a lot of them and I was tired of holding a loupe with one hand and using my other hand to dig out the splinter while my husband held a small flashlight. Quite the production. So at least this leaves my hand available to dig out the splinters and my other hand to hold my son’s little hand steady. The thing that sets this one apart from the Bausch & Lomb headband magnifier are that these particular lenses are glass, which is preferable to the plastic lenses of the B & L. Glass will resist scratches. This Optivisor also comes in a plastic lens model. The headband adjusts in the back so you can loosen it, put it on, then screw to tighten it back up to stay on.I also bought the little light attachment that goes with the optivisor, but I wish I hadn’t. The beam is NOT strong and the knob is intermittant and wavers, the battery pack is heavy and falls off the headband with the least bump only to fall onto the floor every time. Don’t waste your money on the light attachment. We bought the loupe attachment too, but I don’t find I use it, the optivisor 3.5X is enough for what I do with it.A good product, but not so much the attachments.

Title: Lasts forever, works great if you wear glasses
Review: I have one of these that I bought back in the mid-’80s, and they still work great. Still no scratches on the REAL Glass lenses. But I like to have a pair in my house and a pair in my shop, so I bought a new one recently. And they are just as nice as the old ones. I love these things because I wear glasses, and they fit over my glasses with no problems. They just flip up easily so I can switch between magnification and regular vision easily. These are the classic magnifiers with a long history of being great. Don’t be misled by cheap knock-offs, go with Donegan.

Title: Decent Magnifier but a little pricey
Review: I bought this headband magnifier to be able to work hands-free on electronic circuitry and small surface mount components. I thought I’d be able to use a small soldering iron while wearing the visor, but at the point of good focus there’s only about 3 to 4 inches of clearance between the lenses and the work. It can still be done, but you have to be careful as you bring the iron in and out of the working view so you don’t burn the visor or the lenses. This magnifier is good overall. The fit is nice and snug and pretty comfortable to wear for extended time. The lenses are good quality, although if I had to buy another I’d get a lower magnification than this 3-1/2X. It’s very hard to work with items because the focal length is under 4 inches. The 2.5X or 2.75X are probably better for getting more working distance. The knob-adjust headband is a nice feature for quickly adjusting to a snug fit, and the side knobs let you adjust the up/down swing very easily.I also ordered the OptiLoupe 2.5X addon, but that thing is pretty useless. It’s very hard to use and it has a narrow zone of vision.Overall, the construction and quality of this headband visor is very good and it does what it claims. It costs a bit more than most others, but it seems to be of very good construction.

Title: They are worth the price
Review: Don’t be fooled, I bought the inexpensive pair first, tried them on. When I took them off 2 screws from them found the floor.I bought a pair of Opti Visor over 30 years ago the leather finally wore out and alas after all those years and countless hours, I wore them out, screws were falling off. So I returned the first cheap copy of the visor back to Amazon and bought this pair. What a difference. Opti Visor still makes a great product. Worth the money!

Title: Adjustable Fit, Adjustable Magnification via Replacement Lenses
Review: I bought this to help me when I took my watch apart and it was great – I couldn’t have done the job without the OptiVisor.A tip from the Owner’s Manual that might help you select the appropriate magnification level for your anticipated use is as follows: “The greater the magnification, the shorter the focal length and the smaller the field of view.”The #10 at 3.5x (the one I bought) is the greatest level of magnification these headsets offer. I loved it for my watch work and the short, 4” focal length meant that my hands didn’t move too far from the tip of my nose. By contrast, Donegan reports their #2/1.5x lens has a focal length of 20 inches. Their #4/2x lens has an FL of 10 inches. The headband adjusted quickly and securely with the knob in back and the #10 (3.5x) magnifier was super. My 2nd grade daughter wore these too, and the adjustment band accomodated her much smaller head.
