The main reason metabolism slows down is loss of muscle mass and lack of movement. A lifestyle of unhealthy food also contributes to metabolic problems. I can actually eat MORE now in my 40’s than when I was younger because I have a lot of muscle and I’m incredibly active and I challenge my body almost daily. I NEVER would have thought this was possible when I was younger and could put weight on very easily! I also eat about 90% clean, healthy foods that support a healthy metabolism and use supplements for an extra edge.
One of the best tips I can give you is to start weight lifting/strength training 3-5 days per week if you’re not already, and get in some strenuous cardio like jogging, walking hills, spin classes, etc.
