Title: Worked as advertised and better than expected
Review: I expected this to be a bit more bulky, but it’s incredibly thin. I guess I was expecting more of a traditional “lens”, but this thing is seriously thin and weights almost nothing.Yesterday was a partly cloudy day, and certainly not the brightest. I crumpled up some newspaper and picked a sunny spot in the middle of our not so busy road. My daughter and I went out and held this thing out in an attempt to focus the beam. At first, it just wasn’t working for us. But we repositioned our hands and bodies, and moved the lens slightly to the side and then…..WOW. The paper started smoking and instantly burst into flames. We just had to find the sweet spot and it worked amazing.I think you’ll have an easier time using this if you have large hands. It is hard for a child to hold without blocking the lens somewhat. This is going in my camping bag and it will be my daytime fire starter of choice.

Title: Good firestarter for Boy Scouts
Review: I was able to start a fire using this and lint from my pocket. I’m giving it to my kids for campouts, they are always buying those flint things you scrape with a knife. I taught them how to start a fire with a dead Bic lighter, or any other brand with the flint. This magnifying glass is very light and weighs almost nothing, and if the Sun is out at all it’s trivial to start a fire. I had to wait a few days for sunlight before trying it out, but it works very well once I had good weather. I’m going to have to find an appropriate case for it so it doesn’t get scratched up or broken in the backpacks.

Title: Neat Optical Demo Piece
Review: This is a neat demonstration piece for the science classroom, or a compact magnifier if you just need something flat that will fit in a carryall or purse. The Fresnel lens is unusual in bending and magnifying light via a flat lens rather than the traditional (and bulkier) curved lens. This is only 2mm thick and made of acrylic, and offers good magnification. Mine was defect- and scratch-free and worked well, and came in sufficient protective packaging. I recommend this neat flat magnifier.

Title: Works as expected
Review: I got this mainly as a backup way for starting a campfire or cooking fire though it works as a magnifier also. I tested this outside in the sunlight and it took only about 30 seconds to get a piece of paper lit, so be careful not to leave this sitting where sunlight can reach it when not in use.

Title: Perfect Fresnel Lens
Review: This Fresnel lens is perfect. It’s thin, light weight, and you can barely see or feel the ridges. It almost looks like just a plain flat piece of plastic. With most Fresnel lenses it’s easy to see the ridges and they look like they have a frosty appearance from a distance, but this one looks clear. I’m very impressed.

Title: Great for starting a survival fire
Review: This fresnel lens is very thin, lightweight, and it works great for starting a survival fire. I was able to ignite a paper towel only after I marked it with a black colored sharpie because the white paper wasn’t absorbing enough focused light to get it to ignite. This lens has a protective film coving it and I didn’t find it necessary to remove the protective film in order to properly use this lens. I would definitely recommend this product.

Title: Thin lightweight acrylic 4″ fresnel lens with 210mm focal length
Review: Thin lightweight acrylic 4″ fresnel lens with 210mm focal length, magnifier. My husband says this is a good quality fresnel lens, great for classroom scientific demonstrations.
