Title: Good magnifier, good value.
Review: Good magnifier, good value. So many of the reviews here for this magnifying hood seem to be for either a completely different (and often inferior) product, or a different version than the one I received, so let me state that this review is just for the one pictured with this review. This is a seriously good magnifier. It has optical glass lenses, unlike the plastic ones that I’ve seen on other similar products. This is an unbranded knock off of the Donegan Opti-Visor. I have an original Opti-Visor that is about 35 years old, and this one is quite comparable. The original Optii-Visor had prismatic lenses that aimed inward to the focal point, and though these lenses lack that feature, it still works fine, at least for my eyes. There are four lens sets included, and give a good range of magnifications. I can’t say I’m wild about the pin system used to attach the lenses, but they are very easy to attach and remove. We’ll see how that holds up over time. The headband is nicely padded, although I may add a cloth sweat cover.I use the old Opti-Visor in my workshop, and I wanted something similar for household tasks. As I get older, I don’t think I could get along without one of these. It’s well worth what I paid for it, which was a little over twenty bucks. Some reviews stated that the the hood doesn’t stay where you put it, but the hinges on this one have spring tension washers, so it’s easy to adjust and move up and down, and it stays put. The light is bright enough, is rechargeable via USB-C (short cable included), and is removable for charging or just to use as a flashlight. I’m very happy with this magnifier.

Title: Lightweight, good magnification.
Review: I’ve been looking for a decent head light for working on small gadgets and electronics, and this does the job. I’m sure some higher quality options are available out there, like professional tools, but this was inexpensive and easy to find. It works well enough for occasional use on non-critical jobs. It’s nice and lightweight due to the plastic construction, and doesn’t keep sliding down like some heavier ones I’ve used. It’s got lots of magnification options that are clear and provide a good view of the work. The light is plenty bright and can be aimed where needed. The only issue is the band tightener knob in the back is a bit hard to grip, but once adjusted the device stays in place pretty well.

Title: Good Pair of Optical
Review: They work for me very well. They are less expensive than the Donegan line that I have trusted on. The light is quite helpful, too and better than the light accessories for Donegan.

Title: Cheap knockoff of a superior product, but it works.
Review: This appears to be a cheap knock-off of the similar but higher-quality Donegan Optical product. Most of the design, down to dimensions, texture and style are close if not identical.A few points:1. The pivot adjustment nuts do not stay put as one raises and lowers the visor. Expect to be tightening the nuts often.2. The visor sticks out about 1/2″ farther due to the (mis)location of the pivot points in the headband. This can prevent you from getting close to your work, especially in tight situations.3. The visor band is vinyl instead of leather, and has no sweat-absorbing felt band.4. The magnifier plates are compatible with the Donegan Optical magnifier lenses, and seem to be decent quality.5. The magnifier lens case is warped and does not hold the lenses unless the attachment pins are removed first. Also, mine came with six pins. Why there isn’t a pair of pins for each of the four lenses seems bizarre. So you need to move the plastic pins from lens to lens. This seems unnecessary and likely to help you lose pins.So overall, I think this product is OK for brief occasional use. But if you expect to use it often, think about a higher quality product. One appealing strategy is to buy this, toss this headset, buy a less-expensive Donengan product that comes with a plastic lens, and use the set of four lenses that come with this product with the superior Donegan headset.

Title: Perfect for closeup work
Review: This is the second purchase of this type of magnifier. What I really liked more about this one was that it has multiple lenses with it that you can use for a variety of tasks. I use it for fine needlework, or working with very detailed carving that I do in my soapmaking. I have also used it for other things as well.It is very comfortable to wear and adjusts easily to your headsize by adjusting the knob in the back. The lenses tip up for viewing normally. The lenses are easy to change as well. I don’t wear glasses, but it can be worn over glasses if you wear those. Some optics aren’t clear and are fuzzy, but these are nice quality lenses and magnify clearly and I find this a very helpful magnifier. I would highly recommend it.This does not have a built in light, so I did not rate that. It is just the lenses without a light.
