Title: Well-designed dry box with ux light, too
Review: I purchased this dry box for my dad to use with his hearing aids. This is the first dry box either of us has used as the VA does not apparently recommend them on a regular basis. While I don’t have a way to objectively measure the performance of the dry box, its thoughtful design has impressed both of us — enough that dad is actually using the thing, which is win enough for me! The included instructions are clearly written in type that is large enough to read without getting out the magnifying glass. For joy! Here are some other things that I found notable about this dry box: * The interior compartment is large and requires no finesse. Set your hearing aids in anywhere * Dry hearing aids with battery compartment open and batteries in — or remove batteries * There is a magnetic panel on the upper right to store removed batteries * The integrated battery tester has an easy to read display * The integrated battery tester does not require a precise fitting of the battery — easy even with my arthritis * Simple to use: choose low, regular, and high humidity and leave that setting there * Just two main buttons — UV light (press to start one-hour cycle) and Start (to start drying)Why I Chose Electronic v. Chemical Dry Box (Skip this if you already have decided — I had a lot to learn!)I chose this electronic dry box instead of one that uses a chemical drying element after a lot of research and consideration of my dad’s lifestyle. Dad is not one to fuss with details — or notice things like the chemical dry box needing a replacement dry bar. And although the boxes that didn’t require power were cheaper at the outset, depending on how many replacements they would need, whatever we would save would quickly be spent. Finally, in the case of this particular dry box, there is that one hour UV light cycle. UV light is supposed to kill fungus (among other things) and that is the infection that took us back to the ENT for the zillionth time anyway. While I don’t know about the ins and outs of this particular kind of UV light, I figure it can’t hurt.If off-grid living is important to you, a dry box that isn’t powered might be a better choice. The AC adapter on the Serene box is quite small, but that doesn’t help you much if you’re, say, camping in an undeveloped area!At this point, there are only two things I would improve about the Serene air dry box. I like that the cover of the box is easy to open, but it is almost too easy to open. A slightly tighter fit would feel more secure in the suitcase and such. Second, it would be fantastic to find a place to stash a battery remover stick. With larger hands these do help so much in removing the batteries, but my dad will rarely go to the trouble of grabbing one. If it was right there in front of him in the dry box, he might.Do I recommend this item? Yes. So far we have had no problems with this unit, and it has exceeded our expectations. Is it giftable? Hmm. You know, why not? If someone really needed this, I think it would be welcome.

Title: As good as advertised. Small, and works.
Review: I wear hearing aids and do my best to take good care of them. I’ve had an old Store & Dry for years and liked it a lot, but it was getting old. It was too large to take on vacation so I had to leave it home, and my hearing aids untreated. Not a good thing.I did a lot of research on the newer style hearing aid dryers and even discussed them with my audiologist. I finally settled on the Serene Renew. I’ve had it for a couple of months and know it was a good decision. It is small and packs easily into a suit case. The UV lights, which the Store and Dry had too, keep the ear pieces clean and sanitary. The three humidity settings are a real plus. In the Summer, when the humidity in Michigan is high, I can be sure the aids are getting proper drying time on high. For normal humidity the medium setting is fine, and during very dry weather, or in the Winter when the humidity is low, the low setting works. The instructions say to use the UV lights to “freshen” hearing aids from time to time. My audiologist suggested that UV light is excellent for sanitation, does no damage anything, and that I use them every night. I do that. I think it’s a smart thing to doThere is a battery tester, but to be very honest, I don’t think it is very accurate. I have checked my batteries in the morning and had them go dead that afternoon. My batteries usually last about 15 days, so instead of testing, I just change them. Works for me.Some reviews mentioned the dryer got very hot when on. It does get warm, but according to my audiologist, who also repairs hearing aids, the heat is not nearly enough to do damage. She said not to worry about it… so I don’t. It really doesn’t get all that hot anyway. This hearing aid dryer is exactly what I was looking for. It takes up very little room on my dresser, does a good job of drying and sanitizing my hearing aids, packs well in a suit case, and even looks nice. What else could you ever ask for?

Title: Saved them !!
Review: I have been wearing hearing aids for 15 years. Every pair seems to cost more than the last. I have a newer pair and an older pair. The older pair made it through a wash cycle, as I took them out while mowing my lawn and forgot they were in my pocket. My audiologist couldn’t save them and ReSound would replace the battery and guts for $575 total. But, my newer pair made it to the shower. A few drops got onto the right one and I could swear I heard sizzling. Quickly got out of the shower and put them into the case, where I keep 2 tabs of dessicant from pills. I ordered this dehumidifier with black light sanitizing. The dehumidifier arrived in 2 days. I put the hearing aids in for a 4-hour cycle. When the cycle was done, I put them in and they worked. I’m not sure if the water hit a microphone, as it does sound different, but the hearing aids are salvagable until seeing my audiologist in Dec. 2024. Great product, wish I had known about these sooner. The cautionary tale here: Remember to take the hearing aids out when near water or working outside in heat and risking them getting hit with sweat !

Review: This hearing aid dryer and refresher works perfectly. I tested the drying effectiveness on the 4 hour cycle by placing two pop bottle caps with a large drop of water about half an inch in diameter in each, one in the dryer and one beside the dryer. At the end of the cycle about half of the water drop outside the dryer remained but the water drop inside the dryer was totally gone. Some reviewers have commented that the battery checker is not accurate. I find that the zinc air batteries briefly recover quite quickly so you must check them immediately upon removing from the hearing aid to get an accurate reading of the battery charge state.

Review: As in the review title it’s a hearing aide drying box. At the end of the day the hearing aides are placed inside to dry off the hearing aides . Very useful for prolonging the life of the hearing aide.

Review: This dryer does a great job of protecting my hearing aid from the humidity (both use and air!) and I love that it has the UV light to provide some disinfecting as my hearing aid obviously stays in my ear most of the time. It’s silent and good quality. One year in and I havnent had a single issue with it!

Review: I waited a few months before I wanted to review this hearing aid dryer. I’m on my 4th set of hearing aids and this dryer works extremely well (better than anything I’ve had in the past and it appears to eliminate problems that can occur with other devices and your hearing aids). I highly recommend it. I leave it plugged in all the time so I just need to turn it on at night and it always turns off at the preset setting that I use for this current enviroment during this time of the year.I will definetly buy another one if anything happens to this one.Wayne

Review: It works real good the only thing that is missing is that it does not clear the oil residue left behind on the hearing aid .Other than that it works great it’s the wax which is than easy to brush away or wipe off the cone that inserts into the ear canals. Also no more itching ears after the treatment in the dryer.
