Title: Decent Sound Amplifiers
Review: I wear hearing aids and I had heard about these types of sound amplifiers for a while, so when I had the opportunity to try these I jumped at the chance. I thought they would be good in a pinch if one of my hearing aids malfunctioned. The first thing I want to point out, to set expectations appropriately, is that these are sound amplifiers, not hearing aids. Hearing aids have circuitry to vary the amplification according to the degree a patient can hear specific frequencies. This leads to fairly natural customized sound. In my case, my hearing aids amplify the speech range well so I can hear and understand voices pretty clearly. In addition, full hearing aids have sophisticated noise suppression and focusing capability that allows one to hear sounds, say, ahead of you while suppressing others. This capability works well in a busy restaurant or bar. In addition, some hearing aids act as Bluetooth headphones to pump sound from a phone or other source directly into the aid. These devices are not that.So what do these sound amplification devices do? Well, they seem to amplify all frequencies at the same time. So everything gets louder at the same time. For people with mild or moderate hearing loss across a range of frequencies, this may be adequate. There are multiple volume levels on these, controlled with button control, and they get fairly loud. For example, without these in, I can’t hear the tapping on keys on my keyboard. With these in, however, the tapping comes through loud and clear. Instrumental music sounds pretty good to me with these. They seem to transmit the sound as they come through speakers fairly accurately, so I can enjoy speech and music. The quality of the sound is decent in my opinion, although certainly not sterling. I was able to get a good fit and I got no feedback. The seal in my ears is good. There are domes in multiple sizes so that most people can find a good fit. I find they fit in the ear well and have not fallen out in my tests. It takes some experimentation to find the one that works best for you. They’re pretty comfortable to wear. They fit behind the ear well although I wouldn’t call them small or invisible. The rechargeability makes them very convenient to use. Operation is simple. They come on automatically when removed from the case. The Volume control cycles through the 4 volume levels. Holding the Volume button down for a few seconds cycles through the 3 programs – for normal, quiet, and noisy environments. You just have to try each mode to see which one works best for you. They turn off and start charging when put into the case. Decent instructions are included as well. So, are these for you? Well, if you have severe hearing loss and particularly if the amount of loss varies by frequency, perhaps not since all the frequencies are amplified with these. But if you find yourself turning up the TV and the too-loud sound is then ok for you (but not for your partner), these may help you a lot and be worth a try. Just be cognizant of what these are and don’t expect them to perform like a full hearing aid does. All in all, these hearing amplifiers work pretty well and I believe this product has the potential to help a wide range of people with hearing issues at a reasonable cost, especially with the $45 off coupon on the product page today.

Title: Amplification with no noise cancellation and no “off” button while wearing these.
Review: This is a basic amplifier with amplification of at least 35 decibels (+/- 5 decibels). The max sound output of 126 decibels is actually way too loud and under the features listed in the instruction there is no noise cancellation. I was really hoping there would be a noise cancellation option (basically drown out most noise like noise cancelling headphones). These turn on as soon as you remove them from their charging station and do not have the option to be turned off while being worn (you have to remove them). They apparently turn off while being charged. The charging station shows 100% and then the green lights are continuing to flow up – it seems there is no real indicator for charging and per the instructions the 100 just shows the capacity of the charger and the full charge will be indicated when the lights stop blinking. So far the lights have not stopped blinking after 3 hours, so not sure the indictor really shows charge.I have not tested the 40 hours of working hours yet, based what the instructions say, but the Amazon product description says 25 hours (and then it is confusing because it says 100 hours by suing the charging box – that should actually resent the product to 25 hours?). The amount of charge likely depends on the amplification you choose and there is nothing to show how much charge is left. So while I added a photo to show the % charge – the instructions say that is simply the charging capacity, not how much charge is left. The light will tell you if the amplifiers are making contact with the charger and that is helpful to see.For me, it would be hard to tolerate these, from a noise standpoint, for longer than watching a movie, although the fit is comfortable. These are very light and there are different ear forms to ensure you get a good fit and a brush to clean the amplifiersThe highest setting produced feedback (even without any magnetic or radio frequency products around me) and the lowest two setting were more comfortable but with a swishy sound always present (amplifying air flow?). My ears are clean and the instructions say that cleaning ear wax out of your ears before using these amplifiers will produce better results. If you want to sit in front of a TV and listen to it with amplification while not asking others to turn up the volume (and they are not talking) – or maybe you want to sit outside on a calm, sunny day, and listen to birds chirp around you – then these may work well for that purpose. Otherwise, they produce a lot of sound if you are speaking to more than one person in a non quiet environment (like a busy street, market, or with lots of family around), these will amplify everything, making it harder to focus on a conversation. For me, these are more single noise amplifiers rather than hearing aids that will provide what prescription hearing aids provide and there is no noise cancellation option. The instructions are not well written and say there are 5 levels and the Amazon product description says there are 4 levels: from 24 to 40 decibel amplification. I could only discern 3 and there is no indicator on the product to show what mode you are in.Overall confused by what the product description says versus what the instructions say and how there is a faux charging light that made me think I could see the percent charge. The sound amplification doesn’t have a noise reduction option and there is no on/off while you are wearing these. The instructions show there is no noise cancellation included in the features.Hope this review and the photos help you decide if this is the right amplifier for you.

Title: Good backup
Review: This is a Receiver-In-Canal (RIC) hearing aid with the plug receiver that sits in the canal and the battery and processor behind the ear. RIC hearing aids are usually less visible with the clear wire and ear piece, but this protrudes from the ear canal a little more than I would like. But I’m especially surprised that they made the RIC speaker in the ear blue on one side and red in the other ear. These are obvious colors that stand out visibly, so I would have preferred they had chosen a less visible color to hide the inner ear portion.Otherwise this does have some nice features for an OTC hearing aid. It’s very lightweight and the rubber fitting is comfortable in the ear, so I forget it’s there. Everything balances well so no trouble wearing for long periods of time, but the behind the ear piece is just hanging on so obviously this isn’t ideal for physical activity. What’s best about this is the battery life, as it lasts for the entire day which isn’t always the case for OTC products. I find this to be a decent backup hearing aid to use at home and while doing chores. I don’t want to risk damage/loss to the more expensive devise, so this is great for backyard work. At home there’s no concern about how it looks, and the hearing quality is good for day to day life. Please note: My review is part of Amazon’s Vine Program which provides products at a reduced cost in exchange for honest, accurate reviews.
