Heart Shaped Valentines Chocolate Tart | DIY Valentines Baking Ideas | The Best / Recipe

In this video in my valentines series I will be showing you how to make a heart shaped chocolate tart which would be a great valentines DIY gift for your valentine or a great dessert for valentines day.

This is a great valentines day baking idea as you’ll be able to make a special homemade gift for your valentine that’s got the extra special bonus of it being made by you as an extra heartfelt valentines day gift for her or even a valentines day gift for him.

The heart shaped tart shells and cutters you see on screen are readily available from baking stores, non stick tartlet tins are best although standard are fine so long as they are well greased and if you don’t have heart shaped bakeware or do not want to buy you can always just use normal shaped bakeware. You can always make one large tart and slice if you preferred too.

I have used the same sweet pastry recipe for the heart shaped tart shells that you see featured on the channel, if you haven’t made your own sweet pastry before or would like a recap on how to make sweet pastry you can check out the full recipe and tutorial here:

The chocolate tart itself is formed of two main components, chocolate melted with cream and butter mixed with a sabayon. A sabayon is a classic light fluffy sauce made with eggs and sugar, usually there is also the addition of Marsala although in this instance I have made it from just the two ingredients.

You can just make the chocolate tart with just the chocolate mix base but here I will be showing you how you can make the tart extra special by also coating the top with a chocolate ganache. Ganache is classically made with chocolate, cream and the addition of a small amount of a liqueur but again here I have made the tarts completely alcohol free.

The Chocolate Tart Recipe:
100g Dark Chocolate
35g Unsalted Butter
30g Cream
For the sabayon:
1 Whole Egg
1 egg Yolk
35g Caster Sugar

For the Chocolate Ganache:
140g Dark Chocolate
100g Cream
