Review: This jewelers, magnifier, is solid made well and I’m a first time buyer for one of these. There’s no instructions really for it so I’m still learning how to use it. Title: Decent lens; cheap fittings
Review: This loupe has a very thick, glass lens with decent magnification (though nowhere near 40x; inexpensive loupes always wildly exaggerate their power) and acceptable spherical distortion around the field of view. It has two bright white LEDs and a so-so UV LED, angled to light the field of view. The lens, as exaggerated as the claimed magnification is, is the only part I can really praise; the metal and electronic fittings are cheap and flimsy. The case is very thin and poorly finished, with rough, sharp edges and the switch for the LEDs is a bargain basement 3 position slider with noticeable play in all three axes. For a $10, ~10x lighted hobbyist loupe it’s decent, but it’s nowhere near what a professional would want for daily use.
