Title: Kindle review
Review: My kindle is the greatest accessory I own. I just wanted something simple that I could read my books on. This kindle absolutely delivers. It’s lightweight and compact. About the size of a paperback book. The backlight works fine, the page turn works. There’s no fading or ghosting or whatever it’s called, when you turn the page but the last page’s words are still there. I’ve had this kindle over a year and never had an issue. It goes everywhere with me.

Title: Great value kindle
Review: I bought the 2022 base model Kindle because I just wanted something basic for reading, and honestly, it’s been perfect. The screen is super clear now with the higher resolution, and books look way sharper than I expected for the cheapest model. It’s easy on the eyes too, even after reading for a couple of hours. It’s small and light, really easy to throw in a bag or just carry around. Battery life has been great – I’m reading almost every day and still only need to charge it once every couple weeks. I’m also glad they switched to USB-C so I don’t have to carry an extra cable just for this.Only thing is it doesn’t have waterproofing or the fancy warm light that the more expensive Kindles have, but for just reading books, I don’t miss any of that. If you just want a simple Kindle that does its job really well, this is a great option.Amazon tries to get you to get books from their store that have DRM, but remember that you can use Libby to borrow library books and Calibre to sideload books that you already own, or acquire through other sources or stores.

Title: Thoughts from a new user…
Review: I was using my iPad mini for reading before this, but it’s heavy to hold up for extended reading and I’m having wrist and shoulder pain as a result.. Also, I don’t want to use the iPad anywhere it might get wet, so a less expensive device seemed like a good idea. So far, my impressions are mainly positive. I hope this helps someone thinking of transitioning to an e-reader.Pros- lightweight- easy to carry in a medium purse; in the folio-style cover I got, it’s about the size of the old Modern Reader compact editions – a bit too wide for a pocket, but comfortable to hold-lighting seems to be adequate, but definitely easier to read with a normal reading level of ambient light than when ambient light drops.- good assortmentof options for font sizes, font types, and margin and line spacing.-300 dpi text is reasonably sharp against the background, a bit like reading newsprint without the smudges of ink that newspapers have.- I wasn’t sure about the lack of scrolling, but the page turn requires such a small swipe it’s almost like scrolling anyway.Time will tell:- so far, for my purposes, the size and lower lighting of the basic model will do. If I were doing more outdoor and low-light reading, I think I’d want a model with more lights. A bigger “page” would be nice, but the larger sizes don’t seem that significantly bigger in size vs. price for me to justify the extra cost.-I didn’t anticipate this at all, but the grayscale covers in library, etc. are very disconcerting. I knew they would be but I hadn’t realized how much I rely on color cues, etc. when I navigate the library and searches on my iPad.-this model isn’t rated waterproof but for the cost, I can forego reading in the rain.- After several reading sessions, I can’t tell if it’s easier on the eyes than the iPad screen. The iPad is brighter, which I think makes it easier to see; but the lighting on the kindle seems to allow me to read with a greater range of distance from the screen. Overall, that makes the kindle easier to use while moving arms, etc.-the page swipe is smoother than I expected but there is the occasional blackout-type flicker as the ink resets. I read about that so I was prepared, and it’s faster than I expected, so I think I’ll get used to it over time. It helps if I blink while flipping a page.- this model has a raised edge around the front; I thought I’d prefer that because the recessed screen would be more protected. I’m starting to think that a flat screen would be nicer for swiping, and the lighting might seem brighter without the edge.Cons- as much as I wish the page could be bigger, I feel like making this a little narrower so it could fit in jeans pocket would be nice. It’s just a little too wide for that.- some people have noted that the device is very plastic-feeling; it does feel a lot like a plastic calculator, that sort of brushed plastic feel. It’s not a con for me because I knew I’d put a softer folio cover on it, but without a cover it would be more slippery.

Title: I should have bought one of these bad boys years ago
Review: 10/10, the best Christmas present I’ve ever bought myself. I ended up getting my mom one too. I opted for this refurbished option for myself because I wasn’t sure how much I would actually use it and didn’t want to waste the money on something that would just sit on my nightstand untouched. But I have barely put this thing down since I received it. It’s compact enough to fit in my coat pocket, so I frequently take it with me to work or when I run errands in case I have to wait in a long line or have a bit of downtime. I usually find myself reaching for this bad boy instead of my phone in those instances. I recently joined Kindle Unlimited as well, and it has been well worth the price for me. I plowed through all of the available Dungeon Crawler Carl books faster than I thought possible. I honestly haven’t read this ravenously since I was a kid reading Harry Potter for the first time. If you’re a reader, you absolutely need this thing. The paper like screen is so easy on the eyes, unlike my phone screen, and the night mode is great for reading in bed while my wife is asleep. I genuinely can’t recommend this thing enough.
