Title: Good for showing children things they normally don’t see
Review: Well first off I bought it for my 3yo grandson and I kept it for myself. I take it to get togethers with children and show them things they couldn’t see before. I teach them how it works and what to look at. And as it is they love it. Now it’s a little more advanced for a 3yo. So I bought him one that came with a stand his parents can show him how to work it. This one didn’t come with the stand. And I bought one for it. It really is a very good microscope for sure. The quality seems on par as well. I had the children looking at the tops of golden rod, plants, rocks anything they wanted to see in a whole new perspective. Good modern educational device schools should have.

Title: Final Update – Great starter digital microscope!
Review: 30 Apr 25 Final Update:So the final actionable con was the issue of getting it to work with my MacBook Pro and I hadn’t tested it with my laptop. Well it turned out that the supplied type A to type C cable was the culprit. Using it I could charge the microscope up, but it doesn’t have data lines, it’s just a basic A to C charging cable. I grabbed on of my certified cables and boom, it showed up on the screen prompting me to choose storage mode or camera mode. I then tested it with my MacBook Pro and again, it showed up in Photo Booth and in xploview.I really like this as a first starter digital microscope. The portability is awesome, connecting to the pc is awesome, metal base plate with metal adjustable neck is good quality. Could be a little heavier on the base. The previous cons I listed all still apply for the most part. The base plate could be a little bigger. Or give buyers the option to have it come with the the flexible army mount. At $50 or less with a coupon or sale I have been recommending this to family and feinds.26 April 25 Update 1:Okay so I have had a change to use this a bit and I do like it, hence going from 3 to 4 starts. Here are the additional pros I have since my initial review:Updated/additional Pros:- It has a standard 1/4-20 threaded attachment point on the back so you can use whatever you want to mount it up. This is good because the base is great for things like coins and small stuff, but if you’re using it to assist in your electronics repairs like I am, you need a way to mount it and just use your silicone work mat. Even mini itx boards are too big for that little stand lol.- The screen resolution is indeed 1080p (don’t ask how I know… I didn’t void my warranty what do you mean?)- The shimmer to the image is indeed the processing but once you use it for a little bit you get used to it. I liken it to the way cheap/old security cameras keep the pixels static on the image since if nothing is moving it doesn’t make sense to update the image. This is how you get the “ghost” videos people upload simply because they don’t know how security cameras image processing works.- The level of adjustability and focus it has is a lot better than I thought it would be! Had a client come to pick up her iMac and asked me to look at her Samsung laptop since GeekSquad charged her $100 to inspect it and send it to Samsung only for Samsung to say the charging port was bad and it’d be $700 to repair it. She wisely said no and I used the microscope in portable mode to look into the usb c ports and inspect for damage. Sure enough she had one port that was damaged but there were two other thunderbolt 4 ports that allowed for charging. Plugged it in and a few mins later it came to life. I taped off that port so she wont accidentally use it and I can look up more info on the repair (I have a feeling the TB4 ports are soldered to the board hence the $700 repair bc they’re actually replacing the entire motherboard)Updated/additional Cons:- Ignore previous about charging indicator it does have one. The issue was using type c to c cables and chargers. This thing only likes regular old type a to c 5w charging bricks. So that’s a con. On the plus side it does work while charging.- Haven’t been able to get it to show up on my MacBook Pro, haven’t tested it on my HP Envy yet. I used Photo Booth and it didn’t show up as a camera to use. I am waiting for it to charge, go figure, before I can test it out further. I did download xploview for MacOS but it’s available for Windows as well. I am hoping when it’s charged my MacBook will see it and then I can use xploview and the 16″ screen to see a little better when reaaaaaaly zoomed in.- On the monitor housing in the center you can see the outline for a punch out for mini HDMI. It’s a shame they didn’t include the mini HDMI on this model as it would be so much easier to hook it up to my 27″ monitor I can move around easilyThat’s it for now. I’ll have one last review later on.———ORIGINAL REVIEW——–Unlike almost every other review, mine is real, unpaid, and I didn’t receive anything for it. I have no bias and this is my first digital microscope.Initial impressions:Pros:- It is an all metal base and adjustment column. Seems okay on a nice flat surface, anything slightly off and it wobbles like crazy.- image does appear clear (note on that in cons section), though I haven’t verified the claim of 1080p resolution yet and the screen size initially appears dubious but I think I figured it out.- easy to adjust up and down- Image is clear enough to make out individual pixels on my phone which is cool I guess.- not much else right now haven’t really used it yetCons:- Much smaller base than I thought based on product images.- Screen measures out at 4.75” diagonal, though it appears the borders of the plastic cover over the lcd hide that the screen seems to be bordered as well and inset slightly. This slight difference could make it 5” but I don’t like that it comes down to technicalities.- There is definitely a shimmer to the image, like the image processor is struggling slightly, mostly with dark areas.That’s all for right now as I have to get other things done. I’ll update this as I use it.
