Title: Easy to use with a comfy chair and side table – not as useful for other relaxed positions
Review: I waited a long time to review this item, because I wanted to give it a good chance. I have decided that it is very easy to use when I am seated in a comfy chair – especially leaned back with my feet up – and a small side table of some kind, that reaches over the chair’s arms, and allows me to easily control positioning of the light and magnifier. But, depending on where I need to position my arms to hold the item I am studying, my arms (and hands, fingers) tire quickly, or I have to readjust the angle and distance frequently to figure out a way to use this for more than a few minutes. For example, knitting with a pattern is easier, because I can hold my hands under the light and magnifier easily to pick up stitches or fix tiny errors. But it is tougher to move the knitting aside, pick up detailed directions, and count stitches on patterns or mark locations, then go back to the knitting, without adjusting light or distance from the device. It seems tough-ish material (I mean, I wouldn’t throw it around, or let a cat play with it!), the light is quite bright (which at night might keep one awake longer), and the weight of the device itself and how the clip holds it on the table surface is good. I like it for reading! But again, my hands start to cramp as I have to be careful about keeping my arms supported, but not moving the reading materials around much to re-focus. I have astigmatism, so I do have to wear my progressive lens glasses for reading, or I would just use this device for focus. It is nicely portable, if you have some space on the top of your bag, and through a tshirt or something over it to protect the lens. I usually use it at home, with it plugged in. But it works for travel especially well, since a charge also seems to last a while. BTW, I would never call myself “elderly”, but do wear progressive lenses for both near-sightedness, and age-related far-sightedness, in my mid-fifties.

Title: Excellent for puzzles and beading!
Review: The third time is a charm. This is the third magnifying light I have had recently. The first did not work at all, my parents gave me a second magnifying light, but it was really an industrial version, so it was too big and heavy for the table I wanted to attach it to. This light is perfect! It is lightweight, easily adjustable, only weighs 1.87 pounds, and is also surprisingly sturdy. I do a lot of diamond painting, beading, puzzles and other small arts and crafts. I have found as I have gotten older, I need a magnifying glass with a light for many things I do. The level of magnification, which is 5X magnification, is just what I need. This magnifier has a lot of flexibility. One of the things I really like is that the light has 10 levels of light. Often the light levels are too bright or not bright enough. With the step increases of light and the adjustment of the magnifier, the brightness and direction of the light works perfect for my diamond art. I wouldn’t take the magnifier off to use it in a handheld manner unless there is some special circumstance. The vertical and horizontal adjustments really help when I am doing the diamond painting since some are large and vertical so the fact that I can turn the magnifier rather than adjusting the whole light is helpful. My only complaint is that the USB cord is pretty short. I think that having a longer cord would have made things easier. Or the ability to add a longer USB cord into the power cord rather than having to use a long extension cord. The last thing that is a positive is the size of the clamp. One of the other lights I had only had a squeeze clamp, not a nice wide adjustable clamp that with the screw you can ensure the stability of the clamp. I really like this magnifying light – it is the best one I have found. It is flexible, lightweight, easy to navigate, has a small user manual and more adjustable.
