Title: Recommend!!! Amazing little e-reader
Review: I had been hunting for an e-reader that had the capability to use multiple apps for a few months. I didn’t want a regular tablet and I was stuck between this one and the BOOX brand. The meebook was more in my budget range and well worth it for the features which was the ultimate reason chose it. I love it!!!!!! I still have some apps on my phone to use for organizing or searching because while I CAN do that on the reader it’s just a bit slow. The speed of changing pages and apps isn’t bothersome when reading but if I’m trying to reserve a title through my library it frustrates me. I would buy this again if I ever needed. Battery life is phenomenal. I didn’t need to charge it for my entire cruise (though I could have), the various brightness levels are great and I haven’t had an issue with glare, it fits in my purse and is almost exactly the same size as the kindle signature. Kindle cases won’t work but if you use a sleeve for protection it nice to have a reference.

Title: It serves the purpose you want it for: reading books.
Review: It serves its purpose: reading books. I don’t use it for anything else. I like its size and weight because it’s easy to use, even when reading in bed. Very adaptable and easy to carry. I downloaded the Kindle app and I read the books I buy on Kindle there.

Title: Good with a fatal flaw
Review: It seems like a very nice e-reader. There is one fatal flaw though, the power button. As you may notice, one side of the device is wider, and has page turn buttons. All well and good! And if you read in bed, on your side, you hold the reader in the left hand when on one side, the right hand on the other side. You can engage auto-flip for the pages automatically, so it orients correctly, as you’ll turn the reader “upside down’ so the wide edge, and page turn buttons are available for you.Yet if you do so, the power button is right where you’d hold the reader. It’s a very, very strange place to put the power button. You literally cannot hold the book without constantly pushing the power button, meaning this contraption is only to be held in your right, not left hand.Lefties are being left out, and also people reading on their left side are too. Very strange.

Title: Lightweight, should have cover for drop protection!
Review: Very good resolution (300 dpi). Real buttons for page turning. I am a fast reader and it refreshes the screen so I don’t feel slowed down. Bluetooth audio works! Audible or Smart Audio Player or MP3 music work.

Title: Expansion slot just doesn’t work at all. Beware.
Review: The onboard memory was too small for what I wanted the device for, so I got a 1 TB micro-SD card to try to make it useful. However, the slot is so badly engineered that there was no way to get the card to seat correctly. You could get it to engage the ejection spring, but the only way to get the card into the device (as it was sticking out several mm when encountering the spring) caused it to jump the rails and get stuck deeper and deeper into the device. I had dremel it open to extract the card, and at least hopefully salvage THAT investment.Luckily, once cut open, I could see that the card slot wasn’t at all aligned with the external slot, and the card was getting stuck in top of that metal panel. With some more tweaking, I was able to fit the card where it belongs (and the orientation is not what you would expect), and it’s working. I’ll use some epoxy putty or something to seal the wound, and have the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy that I wanted. But I had to earn it.

Title: E-Reader that works with Libby
Review: This is my first E-reader. I wanted an E-reader, like Kindle Paperwhite, but I like to read with the Libby App when possible. You can’t do that with Kindle Paperwhite.I looked for e-readers that had Google Play (so you can download whatever reading app you want). I narrowed it down to Onyx Boox and this one. There were reviews for the Onyx saying it broke easily. There aren’t many reviews for this one, so I don’t know if it breaks easily and it’s cheaper than Onyx.I worried about the screen size because the tablet I was reading on was 8 inches, but it turned out that the size wasn’t a problem. The size is perfect, in my opinion. And it’s so light!I really like reading on this vs. a tablet. I love it! It’s great! It’s a little glitchy and I am sure that there area better quality e-readers out there, but I can read using Libby using this one. So 5 stars.

Title: Great for web browsing
Review: I really wanted a device to web browse at night before bed without having to use my smartphone or computer and having excessive bluelight before bed. This device runs on Android so you can download whatever apps you want from the Play Store (I use Brave Browser). There’s various refresh modes you can try that allow for different types of browsing you’d like to do (faster scrolling, but with ghosting, to slower scrolling but minimal to no ghosting). Probably the best tablet you can use for web browsing I’ve seen (as long as you’re okay with no color).

Review: I wanted an android-based ebook reader, so that I was not locked in to one or other bookshop, and so I could download things like newspaper apps and library apps, and even an interlinear Bible. After a month with this e-reader, I can do most of what I want. It feels good in the hand, the screen is clear, and it does indeed offer both Google Play store and its own store of specially curated apps.My main beef is that there’s no manual. Once you’ve turned it on, more-or-less, you have to blunder about on your own. This perhaps is the difference between a Chinese factory turning out neat kit with clever software, compared with a producer more concerned with helping the user get the most out of the machine (and writing proper instructions in English). The Meebook fails badly here. For example, I loaded MS teams and couldn’t see half the options. Then I learnt that after you’ve installed it, if you long click on MS Teams’ icon, there’s an option to tweak the software and one of the options magically highlights all the words that were previously black-on-black. With that tweak, it works fine. Similarly, you can reassign the volume keys as page up/down keys, but only (or so I seem to have discovered) if that app doesn’t have a read-aloud function. The epaper screen isn’t as slick as a phone screen, but once you get where you’re going, it’s fine. And it is great to put any ebook, kindle, newspaper, library book and anything else on this machine and carry it with you.The drawbacks are a real pity. An android powered e-reader with good software and decent instructions would surely be a winner. Still though, I use it a lot and it isn’t consigned to my ‘bad ideas’ drawer. As for me, after rather more sweat than I would like, I am doing most of what I want to do with the machine–which is quite a lot. It seems a bit a slow too. Would I buy it again? Probably. But I still await a killer product in this space.
