Review: I love how compact and lightweight this little e-reader is — it fits right in my pocket! The 2.66-inch e-ink screen is easy on the eyes, with no blue light or flicker, perfect for quick reading breaks anywhere. The battery lasts for weeks, and it comes with a 32GB memory card for tons of books. It’s simple to use.

Title: I love this thing. It’s not good.
Review: I wish I could rate this higher because the form factor absolutely rules, but the quality of the experience is just too rough. “I had to use a knife to scratch the micro sd slot wider so i could get the card out” and “I have to format the book files in a specific way for a smooth experience” and “I can’t actually figure out how to change the font but at least the default is okay” rough.Pros:- Extremely lightweight- Vanishes into a pocket- No frills, no distractions- Battery lasts foreverrrrrCons:- Build quality- Backlight feels a bit dim, it works well in a dark room but it doesn’t get as bright as a kindle- Formatting books on it is A Trial without easy answers and you need to be prepared to tweak, and you will probably not be able to use the chapter feature.- Most features on this don’t work for me or I can’t figure out them, and there is basically no documentation so I had to guess. (For now, hamgeek’s website has a little bit of information but who knows how long that’s going to stay up for?)- High price for what you get, it’s not really worth it unless you have the same things wrong with you as I do. You can get much nicer devices that are much more pleasant to use for less money. If you are still intrigued, here’s what I have learned about it:- The easiest way for me to read has been to use Calibre to convert the book to a text file. For horizontal reading, I’ve been forcing a 40 character line width and it’s pretty comfortable. (I think for vertical you’d want 20-25 but I haven’t tested it.) Then, load it on the included SD card in the same folder the example files are in. Epubs work as long as they don’t have images, but I haven’t been able to find a good way to control the flow of the text so it doesn’t have constant line breaks getting in the way. It has a chapter feature to jump chapters, but it only works on epubs set up for chapters and unfortunately won’t work on text files.- Leave it on the default font, the others are bad and I had to reset the device to factory settings (and thus Chinese language) in order to get the default back.- Relatedly, if you need to reset the device, carefully memorize how to navigate to the language settings because you will need them.

Title: Recommended!
Review: The small size of the Hamgeek RW01 e-reader is awesome. I enjoy using it to read in bed, because it fits into the palm of one hand and is tremendously comfortable. I also find the clock and thermometer functions useful. I purchased it for backpacking (camping) due to its ultralight weight and size, and it’s perfect for that. Also the cost is low, so it’s easy to take a chance on purchasing it.Cons: I’m sure the market for these devices is tiny, so it seems like the software isn’t 100% polished. Display of English ebooks isn’t perfect, with some odd characters and formatting showing up sometimes. Changing the font size doesn’t seem to work too well. (Any chance of a software update?) Also, there’s wifi connectivity with local weather that don’t seem to work in Wisconsin (maybe only work in China?). Wishlist features would be water-resistance, higher dpi, and nothing protruding from the bottom, so it would sit on a tabletop better for clock function. Be aware that you’ll only be able to read epub ebooks with no DRM; but you can easily make your own with free, open-source software and some patience. Check Project Gutenberg for tons of free, classic books.Overall the shortcomings are forgivable considering the price and that it’s such a niche device. I like it a lot and recommend it!

Title: What a strange an fun piece of hardware
Review: What a strange an fun piece of hardware. If you’re technically inclined, this can be a fun little project device. It’s made of commonly available components and can have completely custom firmware written for it, all in a really nice little package. Refresh rate on the eink display was totally acceptable, the screen gets really bright (though I wish it was a warm light). It’s small and easy to carry, and has no branding or text on the device itself. This is a fun clock/weather/alarm/reader. Hard to categorize. But fun!

Title: Date time and compact
Review: I needed something clear and simple that is compact that can keep a date and time. This is so compact that it fits right in my travel bag to have it in my hotel bathroom.

Title: Clock – Alarm – E-reader
Review: Wanted to get a desk clock for a kids table but ended up buying this all in one product. I am happy it has alarm, clock and e reader. Didnt think much before buying but it is an intersting product.
