Title: Clear sound, easy to read the numbers
Review: Bought this for my 95 year old stepfather and he loves it. I haven’t set up the OOMA voip and I don’t think I’ll use that but he finds it easy to use and there are enough headsets so that he can call from any room that he’s in.

Title: Stop scammers targeting the elderly
Review: This is a great solution to stop scammers from calling my elderly mother. She was getting at least 2 or 3 scam callers every day. With this Ooma system I set up a white list of phone numbers that are allowed to ring directly to the phone. These are numbers of my mom’s relatives and friends. We don’t even put numbers like her doctor or pharmacist on the whitelist. All numbers ringing her that are NOT on the whitelist go directly to voicemail for which my sister and I can then monitor the messages. Also my mom will occasionally call 911 for no good reason and sometimes she will hang up before speaking to someone so you want to make sure to put the number that the police call back with on to the white list.

Title: Not for seniors!
Review: This phone is definitely not for seniors. The set up is too difficult to navigate as well as the usage. We bought it for my mother and she was never able to use it after we set it up. Trying to dial was too difficult. We switched to using Alexa for her.It would be good for someone hearing impaired.

Title: DO NOT BUY A SENIOR DEVICE. CAREFULLY EVALUATE ALL OPTIONS BEFORE PURCHASING
Review: The good: the service works well. The bad: 1)the phones are a joke. The sound quality is incredibly poor. I bought this for my 99 year old mother and had to revert to the older cordless phones. Are they louder? Sure. Can you understand the caller, NO. The garbled call is just louder garble. 2) Ooma is taking advantage of senior citizens by charging them MORE for the premier service. She is now paying nearly $25/month including taxes because of the senior bundle. Had I purchased a regular device, I am told her bill would be about $16 for the premier service, all in. Carefully check out the devices and plans and get total estimate from Ooma before you buy. They are targeting and taking advantage of seniors. The service itself is fine but you are locked into a higher-cost plan than regular customers. In the long term, it’s better to get the regular Ooma and the premier plan. For a product that is targeted to seniors, it is awful that a company like Ooma is doing this to people who can afford it the least. When I asked their customer service how to get the other price for the non-senior plan, I was told I’d have to start over and buy a whole new device. If I could unravel all of this and start over I would. Shameful.
