Title: PEC quality is always exceptional
Review: As it is with all of PEC’s products, these rulers are exceptional in every way. I am a fan of PEC because they produce the highest quality products here in the USA. I have a handful of PEC products in my home hobby woodshop and always look to them whenever I need a precise tool. These rulers are no exception as they are incredibly precise. I matched them up with my [much more expensive] full-sized rulers and squares and all measurements are exact. The ruler itself is compact and light and goes well in a shirt pocket or a side pouch for easy access. It is easy to use because all markings are contrasted and etched rather than simply printed on the metal. This contrast makes it incredibly readable even if you don’t have the best eyesight like me. I really like the texture of the ruler because it has almost an adhesive quality to it when it is laid on a material. With many rulers, they easily slide around but this one lays flat and stays put. With regular use, this ruler will prove extremely durable as it is made of real materials and with quality craftsmanship.

Title: Basic But Accurate And Precise — Tad Bit Pricey Though
Review: PEC Tools 6″ 4R Flexible Stainless Steel Ruler Set of 3 — These are useful rulers but for some reason at $24 dollars or $8 each I was expecting more. They seem to be dead on accurate but for the price I was expecting a premium finish with deeply etched markings.. and this they certainly are not. Completely flat metal stock that I’m imagining just gets cut in short segments off of a roll. It almost just seems like the metal banding you might cut off a bundle of lumber. That said, the printing seems nice, clear and precise and has every 16th labeled on one side and standard numbered inches on the other. Its so thin its hard to tell if its etched or just printed. It might be a micro etch but might be printed?… it can be felt either in or on the surface. They do have a tempered look to them and says tempered right on the blade. The print is clear and easy enough to read straight on but the finish does create a glare when read from and angle. This is where, for the price, I thought they might have some sort of premium flat matte finish.. this print would be awesome on that. The main redeming quality of this rule that does put it above many others.. is it starts at the exact end, which maybe the designating feature of a “machinist” rule. Many small rules start with an extra 1/8th or so before the measurements actually start.. these actually start at the end. This makes this a truly useable tool as it can be used to measure depth or stand off of a flat surface.. and this alone makes a huge difference. They’re fine rulers and make for very precise, accurate and useful tools. I do like them and find them to be a great addition to the shop but for some reason $8 dollars ($24 for 3) each just still seems a bit steep for what they are. They could have at least included a decent pocket clip.I’m thinking 3-1/2 Stars rounded off to 4. Honestly could of gone 5-Star at $4 to $5 each.

Title: So darn useful for those small fractional amounts, and so easy to read!
Review: Edited after 2 months: stars changed from 4 to 5. Reasons for change at bottom of review.I have no problem with the clarity of markings on this ruler; it is super useful when you know you need to work in 32nds or 64ths, to not have any other markings in your way, like you would find on a normal ruler. Comparing it to my nice Staedtler ruler, the accuracy is really good. I have an expensive Mituyo ruler when I need to be absolutely certain about something that is best measured by a ruler, but this guy is smaller and will fit in smaller spaces better, which I appreciate. However, the flexibility means that mine does not lay exactly flat as it developed a wave at some point during manufacture or transport. It isn’t a terrible wave, maybe 1.5 mm at its worst, and it certainly flattens easily with pressure, so not the end of the world. Maybe because I am normally working in 2 dimensions I prefer a stiffer ruler. Just be aware that given its small size, it is prone to not being entirely flat. Still for the price, I consider this a nice little addition to my toolbox.2 month update: The slight bend is gone; it took a little time but I left it on a flat surface between uses, under a heavier straightedge, and it flattened itself out. But the real reason I am upgrading it to five stars is because I am simply amazed at how useful I have found this ruler. I use it constantly because of the clarity of reading 32nd and 64th markings compared to a regular ruler, in particular, but even using the 8ths and 16ths are a blessing for my no-longer-quite-so-young eyes. Unless I need a straightedge to cut against, or I am measuring something larger than 6 inches, this is the ruler for which I reach almost always.

Title: Cute, Durable, and Exceptionally Precise – A Ruler Built to Last
Review: These matte black stainless steel rulers strike a perfect balance between durability and style. Constructed from premium tempered stainless steel, they feel sturdy in hand yet flexible enough to rebound without bending or deforming, even with heavy use. The material has clearly undergone a hardening process, which adds to its long-term resilience. The satin matte finish gives the rulers a sleek, modern look while also serving a practical purpose. The scales are laser-etched for clarity and painted with bold, high-contrast markings that remain easy to read under all conditions. Even with frequent, high-intensity use, the finish resists rust and wear, ensuring the numbers remain sharp and legible for years.Functionally, the rulers are designed with precision workflows in mind. Graduations include 1/32 and 1/64 inch on one side, and 1/8 and 1/16 inch on the other, making them versatile for woodworking, construction, metalwork, and DIY projects. The careful engineering ensures measurement accuracy and consistency, which professionals and hobbyists alike will appreciate.Made in the USA, these rulers reflect a strong tradition of craftsmanship and quality. Their durability, precision, and attractive design make them a worthwhile addition to any toolkit—an everyday essential that feels a little premium.
