Title: fantastic little e-reader : )
Review: i’ve always loved to read. i used to carry books with me to school and i do the same with work now, except things have become too heavy for my back and sometimes the small print is hard for me to read (i would switch to large print if the books weren’t so big/heavy). this little device makes things much easier all around. i can have so many book on me at once without destroying my back lol, i can zoom in if i want to read without glasses on, and i can dim or increase the screen brightness without hurting my eyes since it’s an e-ink screen. since i can’t access the pocketbook store due to being in the united states, i just get e-pub versions of books i want to read, tweak the files a bit in calibre, and put them on a micro sd card that i insert into the device to increase my space. this is my first e-reader and i really do love it.

Title: I love these Pocketbooks!
Review: I have a Pocketbook Basic Lux 3, which I’ve been using for probably 3 years. I bought the Basic Lux 4 just in case my first one no longer works. I haven’t had to use it yet. They both have page-turn buttons on the bottom, which is perfect for my use. The Lux 4 also has touch screen capability, which I’ve disabled. (I hate touch screen!)The battery lasts for weeks with every-day use before it needs charging. The e-readers use non-proprietary formats (unlike some competitors which I won’t name here) and accept numerous formats so you can download books from various sources. I prefer the epub format.These e-readers are downright cheap compared to the well-known brands, about $100. And their customer service is outstanding. Have a question? Send them an email and receive a prompt response.I simply can’t recommend the Pocketbook e-readers enough! (I would have bought another Basic Lux 3 to keep “in reserve” but I couldn’t find one available.)

Title: Impressed by this reader. Lighter than Kindler, you can actually turn off the screen light!!!
Review: So far, I am impressed.It is very light. I don’t even feel it in my coat pocket.It is not intrusive. You don’t have to connect to buy books, no ads that want to sell books you don’t read. Small amount of apps, so no distraction. Easy on the eyes.Did I say, you can turn the annoying LED light off! I already have desk and floor lamp, I don’t need a light shining in my eyes making them dry. It has option to enlarge font.PDF have limited control but I have been moving to epub for sometime anyway.You have bookmarking, notes and highlighting.The only strange thing is, I don’t know if I am turning it off. You still see the stuff about LUX 4 on the screen after you turn it off, it is same stuff right out of the box. I love it so far. I’ll come back in a year to report how I feel about then.

Title: Screed went bad just after two months
Review: This eReader is a poor quality product. The screen went bad just after two months of use. Connecting with customer service is not straightforward as the website listed on Amazon would not allow warranty claims for purchases in US. When contacted through emails they pinned on the issue on a damaged product and refused to replace. This product is not recommended.

Title: Uses a Custom Linux OS
Review: Something that isn’t made clear in the product description but absolutely should be is that this device uses a custom Pocketbook Linux based OS and not Android. What this means is that downloading and using other preferred apps for reading books or comics is impossible and you’re limited to only using the pre-installed Pocketbook apps.You won’t be able to buy books from preferred stores or use any other apps. Best I can do to get the books I want is downloading them to my PC and transferring them over to the device.Other than that which is the biggest hangup I have, it’s a small, low quality flimsy screen and it uses the ancient micro-USB connection.If you want a cheap limited bare-bone ereader that’ll break within a month, get this one.
