Title: 4 years later and it still works perfectly; worth the money
Review: I’m a big cyclist and enjoy keeping track of different stats, so a HRM was a must. I’ve tried different ones from Garmin and wanted to branch out. That led me to the Polar H10. I’ve had it now for about 4 years and it continues to work flawlessly.Key features• Connectivity: 5/5 easy to connect and pair with my garmin computer, garmin watch, and iPhone• Waterproof: 5/5 – I live in FL and sweat A LOT. The sweat and moisture haven’t affected it’s performance at all• Accuracy: 5/5 – but I haven’t necessarily measured it against a “gold standard.” It picks up my HR and never drops it.• Battery life: 4/5 – the trick is to remove at least one lead (unbutton one of the two) so that it’s not constantly trying to read. Title: Will not connect
Review: The strap works great when it works. I’ve had it for over a year and it goes through batteries pretty quick. It claims 400 hr but no way. When I think it’s the battery again, it’s not. It just doesn’t want to connect. This is really frustrating when you want to start your workout but are delayed trying to connect this thing and it won’t. The great reviews are right after purchase, and I would give a great review too the first few months of use. I’m not sure where to go from here because it works with my concept rower when it works. I’m going to look at other options.I went through all the troubleshooting to connect and after 30 minutes it’s working again. I want to use this as it has the best accuracy. If you can put up with the Intermittent connectivity issues, it really is a great product.

Title: So many flaws, Stopped working in less than 3 months
Review: If you have a naturally V shaped body, this strap will constantly fall down unless you have it tight enough where it cuts off your circulation.The 2nd issue is that it needs to be moistened to recognize or activate it so you rather have to be near water or use spit.The third issue is being that this is flush against your body and you are running, the fabric strap will saturate in sweat and start to smell if you don’t wash it immediately after your run. Vinegar will be your friend.The 4th issue is the app is absolutely horrendous. It seems like it hasn’t been updated since inception. You have to connect to their app to connect to other running apps and the ease of use is simply annoying.The last issue and most important is that out of 14 runs I have had in the past two months, this literally has only worked on 5 runs because of how poorly it connects to devices. Instead of warming up for events, I’m sitting down trying to figure out how to connect this so I can get data for my runs and half the time, my race starts before it ever connects. I end up starting my runs completely stressed out and frustrated and it takes away from the whole experience . I’m sure it raised my heart rate.Update: less than 3 months in and It has stopped working all together and I purchased brand new batteries and moistened the electrodes. This has never been dropped.

Title: This thing works as a great replacement to my Garmin HRM dual
Review: Bought this to replace a crappy Garmin chest strap. So far this thing beats it every single way possible. I’ll give a little bit of a comparison below as to how it stacks up to the Garmin HRM dual.The strap.I’m a big boy at 275 pounds so I bought the larger strap to go with the unit. The garmin strap was trash. Too thin and soft and so it just rolled up with movement. The Polar strap is a little firmer though so it can better stay flat without rolling up. This is huge when it comes to comfort as when the strap rolls up it will dig into your skin a little more. The Polar strap I could probably wear all day long without issue.The unit itself – Big win for Polar.The Garmin unit at first wouldn’t detect my heart rate. Tried all the tricks from submerging it in water, licking the pads, getting all sweaty and then trying it. Nothing. Only way I was able to get it to work was buying conductive gel and using that on the pads. Next problem was once I started working out I had about 20-30 minutes before it quit working. What sucks is you wouldn’t know it though as it doesn’t display 0. Instead, it just keeps displaying the same heart rate that it was able to detect. This kind of sucks though as your heart rate could be very different, but you would never know.what makes it even worse is once the unit quits working, that’s it for the next couple hours. It WILL NOT WORK no matter what you do. Dry the strap out, clean the strap and pads, apply more gel, apply less gel, dunk the strap, dry it out again. NOTHING!Had this happen during Full Frontal 4DP test by The Sufferfest by Wahoo. Figured it was just a fluke and I’ll try again. Once again half way through the test it just quits and will not work for the next couple hours. That’s a pretty crappy deal to get half way through that test and then just have the heart rate quit working invalidating the whole test.Figured ok maybe it’s just too much. maybe I’m sweating too much, maybe my heart rate is going wonky. Who knows. Lets just do a normal training run instead that’s hopefully not quite as intensive. Again 20-30 minutes in it would just quit. This happened EVERY SINGLE TIME for any type of ride I did. This is kind of worthless. You get through any warm up, and just starting on the actual workout at which point the unit bricks itself and won’t work for the next couple hours.The Polar unit on the other hand worked right from the start. I have never used the conductive gel with unit. Hell I don’t even have to wet the strap down or anything. I just put it on and start riding.Don’t think I have had it actually drop out during an exercise. I have tested it though to see what would happen if it does quit detecting my heart rate by lifting up one side of the pads of my chest. This is another huge win in that if it does quit detecting your heart rate this will show 0. Very much unlike the garmin still displaying the last heart rate detected which is incorrect. Even if that heart rate was from 10 minutes ago.The polar unit also has the ability to be used through third party apps to detect your heart rate variability and such. You can even download apps so you can actually see the electrical signal from your heart if you really wanted to though I have no way to confirm how accurate that is. It’s just the fact that Polar opens this up for use like that unlike the garmin is a huge win.Overall I wouldn’t bother with the Garmin unit. If you are unsure which to buy, just guy the polar H10. Much better unit over all in every way.

Review: I use this with Welltory and EliteHRV. Very useful to track recovery and morning readiness. I thought the strap would be uncomfortable but can’t really feel it. One issue is certain yoga poses will be uncomfortable with the device strapped across the chest.

Compared heart rate with optical sensor based sports watch (Galaxy 4 and Garmin). Heart rate readings fluctuates on watch due to optical sensors whereas with ECG based Polar it’s stable.Used it while cycling with Road bike & kept monitoring heart rate on bike computer. Comfortable strap & glitch free functioning. Polar is unbeatable brand.

Review: The Polar H10 was easy to fasten to my chest and stayed there. I used a small amount of electrode gel rather than water so the connection was excellent with little “noise” when I connected to the ELITE HRV app which has an array of useful readings and training information. HR and HRV data appears accurate when compared to other medical grade devices. If accuracy while in motion is important, this is a very good product. However, I would caution a buyer to read the size of the strap to make sure that it will fit properly. I am 6’1” and about 200, the strap fit well but I can see that this M-XXL size strap may not fit larger users with chests more than 50”. The choice of App is also important. The Elite HRV app came to my attention as there was a connection with Mindfulness practices as well as exercise. I have not explored other Apps yet, but I am pleased so far.
