Title: Hearing aid for seniors and those with moderate hearing loss
Review: Update 9/16/2025. The company sent me an explanation for what each knob is for so I was better informed about how to set the aids up. And finally I got sound. Not only that but there is a tiny voice telling the user what level s/he is on. One will have to fiddle around with the set ups to get them to a suitable level but once that is accomplished, then indeed one can hear. However I do recommend these for moderate loss as severe loss unfortunately would still require an audiologist. For those with moderate loss these aids are more than a welcomed addition to the OTC hearing aid market. A special note about pricing. This is a REASONABLE price for hearing aids. A trip to the audiologist for one aid will start at about $2,000 and go up from there. These Retekess TE201 Hearing Aids for Seniors arrive well packed. Included is a charging station, a carrying case (nice) and 3 different sized ear plugs so that the aid can fit property. Otherwise, one will get a lot of buzzing/whining due to air seeping in around the plug-in for the ear. The Retekess company is to be commended for developing hearing aids for moderate hearing loss, a much needed and overlooked market. The aids are easy to charge and hold the charge for an entire day. The slightly larger size makes it easier to manage the sound buttons while wearing the hearing aids. They also sit low enough behind the ear that they will be hidden behind many hair styles. The one negative is that the instructions are in such small print that even with my glasses and a 5+ magnifying glass I was still unable to read them. Since I am familiar with hearing aids, I took my time, periodically trying different set-ups with the two knobs on the aids. No matter how I configured them I was unable to get sound through them. I will continue trying and will update my review should I succeed. I hope this will not discourage this company or any others from continuing the journey of providing OTC hearing aids for moderate loss. These aids are more in line with pricing for such loss compared to whatever the market will bear usually starting at $2,000 and then going way-way up for ONE aid.

Title: Clearer sound and easy charging
Review: I picked these up for my dad and they made a real difference right away, voices are clearer and background noise is kept in check. The fit is light and comfy with the silicone tips, and he liked that there is no app to mess with, just put them on and go. The magnetic charging base with the battery display is handy, and the different listening modes for TV and conversations work well. Six volume levels give enough wiggle room to dial things in without fuss.

Title: They are comfortable and amplify sound. Slight funnel to the ear effect though.
Review: Take my review with a grain of salt, or so the saying goes.I’ve had these for a while now, a few weeks at least. I’ve tried them a few times. I have mild hearing loss from listening to Rock & Roll too loudly. (Worth it in my opinion!)These are the first hearing aids I’ve ever tried, so I don’t have anything to compare them to. I will say this, they definitely amplify sound! They are small, fairly comfortable, and I can barely tell they are in my ear.The charger is a cute little stand that charges things quickly. They are pretty small over all and come in a very portable little case that is very convenient. Here’s the problem: I’ve tried all four modes and it amplifies *ME* greatly. For example, I cracked my knuckles and it sounded like someone loudly snapping in my ear.It amplifies my own voice so much it almost hurts. Even with the sound turned down to a low level, if you have it so you can hear people talking, your own voice sounds like yelling. Is this normal? I don’t know.I think maybe these were designed for someone with a lot more hearing loss than I have.As far as just using them to listen to the sounds around you, they are pretty good. It does pick up ambient sound so there’s a constant… I’m not sure how to explain it; maybe like a distant river constantly?I will say that the more you wear them, the more you become accustomed to the ambient sounds and assorted pops and cracks. For example I didn’t even know my chair made so many creaking sounds.Oohh! I just figured it out.It sounds like you’re holding a large funnel to your ear, which I presume is completely normal since it amplifies stuff like a funnel.Ant it does amplify! I’ve tried out all 4 modes and they all have that loud funnel effect, however a couple modes it’s a little bit better.I also noticed that you need to have it on for a minute or two before it’ll switch between modes smoothly, at least that’s how it seemed to me.Over all, I don’t particularly like it, however as I said before; all of this might be completely normal. Also, it might have been made for something with more hearing loss than I have.I can completely see how it would help some people!

Title: Good choice for people reluctant to acknowledge their loss of hearing.
Review: If you have ever had to sit across from *that* person in your family who is losing their hearing but absolutely refuses to acknowledge it, you know how annoying it can be. (Not to mention, how socially isolating it can be for the person with poor hearing.) And you probably also know that they are not going to go to a doctor, go through a hearing test, get a prescription for a hearing aid, and actually fulfill it. In my opinion, that’s where this over-the-counter hearing aid comes in. Get the family to chip in, buy this baby, and get the person they like best to convince them to at least give it a whirl. The sound improvement is pretty dang good for the price! Easy and intuitive to use. And my guess is you’ll have a better shot at getting *that* relative to give it a try if you make it easy for them. Good luck!
