Title: A good 8.7X magnifier with a fairly flat field and some chromatic aberration towards the edges.
Review: This a set of two well made, spaced lenses. It has a “back focal length” of about 33 mm (1.30″) so that is about 8.7 magnification. There is some loss of focus towards the edges of the field and some chromatic aberration. There is no way a magnifier of this diameter is “30X”. The laws of optics make that impossible.This is a good magnifier for inspection of splinters, looking at things for parts and cleanliness are involved. The center of the field is bright and flat and easy to see good detail.

Review: The two bi-convex lenses are mounted in what I believe is a zinc die-casting. It’s nicely made and a good value for the money. The magnified images are sharp over a reasonable field of view. I will likely purchase another so I have one in each place I will use it.

Review: The should’ve painted the inside of this white to reflect light, putting it over the item to be viewed just puts it in a little darkened room. I bought this for gemstones and inspecting metal work. It’s not good for either. I’ve tried it for multiple tasks and it’s not ideal for any of them. A decent magnifying glass works much better because it has a larger viewing area and isn’t dark. This magnifier gets very blurry except right in the center as soon as you lift it slightly away from the item to increase magnification, so you’re only getting maybe 10x magnification from this. Also this says made in Germany on it but it’s made in China.
