This packaging mix-up is beyond bizarre. Teasdale Foods, Inc. is recalling certain taco dinner kits because the kits contained cocoa packets instead of taco seasoning. Officially, the company announced a recall because the cocoa mix packets contain milk, and milk is an allergen that needs to be disclosed on the packaging. The unexpected milk could be dangerous for people who have an allergy or sensitivity to milk and may cause a life-threatening allergic reaction.

The company launched a recall after consumers reported taco dinner kits containing cocoa mix packets instead of taco seasoning packets. No surprise, people expecting chili powder and cumin did not want to eat taco meat seasoned with hot cocoa.

Teasdale Foods says the problem was caused by mislabeling of the taco seasoning packets by the third-party seasoning provider. The offending taco dinner kits were sold at Aldi, Giant Food, and Martin’s Super Markets.

What To Do if You Have a Recalled Product

If you purchased one of the taco dinner kits, return it to the store where you bought it for a refund. If you have questions, reach out to the company at teasdalecomplaints@teasdalefoods.com.

For people who are allergic to milk, an allergic reaction usually occurs not long after you drink or eat a product containing milk. Symptoms can include wheezing, hives, digestive issues, and vomiting. The reaction can be mild to severe and may include anaphylaxis, a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. If you experience a serious reaction, see a doctor.
