Title: Exactly what I wanted
Review: I’ve had a bit of time to use this dimmer, and I’ve really been happy with it. If you’ve replaced a switch — and if your switch box has a neutral line! — then physical installation is as easy as you hope. Software installation was just a couple of taps in my phone, and I was done. The dimmer uses the Samsung SmartThings system, so it’s a pretty mature ecosystem and no compatibility worry. The dimmer worked great with the LED bulbs I have, and dimmed smoothly to a very low level. The touch strip was very responsive, and the effect was immediate. The standby LED on the dimmer face isn’t too bright, and has a nice “breathing” brightness pattern that’s very pleasing. Now for the really good news! At least if you’re adventurous! 🙂 It’s pretty easy to get Tasmota on this dimmer! It’s based on a Tuya chip, and I used the OTA (over the air) firmware update software called Tuya-Convert (instructions are on the GitHub page). Once installed, Tasmota worked great! (find the Tuya Dimmer page on the Tasmota site, the bottom of that page has a picture of the module configure information) (also note, it wouldn’t be too hard to flash physically through a USB-to-serial connection as it’s easy to pop apart and get to the Tuya module – but does require some fine-pitch soldering to get access to the correct GPIO pins — OTA turned out to be much easier for me)This dimmer is great, whether you’re looking for something “that just works” or if you’re a smart home DIY fanatic. Now that my test has gone so well, I’m planning on getting lots more for the rest of my house.

Title: Great, easy to install dimmer for home automation
Review: I needed to update the lighting in my home office and while I was buying a new fixture and LED bulbs, I saw this switch and thought having a dimmer would be a great replacement for the smart switch I already had in my office. This was a great upgrade to my home office.Installation is done fast with only a screwdriver, and the included wire nuts (and some electrical tape if you’re like me and wrap all connections). The switch came to life, obtained an IP address and was ready to go in minutes.Setup is equally fast. I already had the Smart Life app installed because I have some smart plugs already that used this app, so setup was about as quick as clicking the Add Device button, selecting “Dimmer” from the device options and following a couple prompts. And since I already had some Smart Life devices connected to Alexa, this new dimmer switch appeared instantaneously so all I had to do for Alexa was modify my routines to use the new switch instead of the old.Usage works great. Physically it’s like other smart switches, press to turn lights on, press again to turn lights off. The dimmer slider is touch, not physical, and is very quick and responsive. The dimmer levels are good, going from almost off to full bright smoothly, and if you do experience problems, there are three different dimmer modes to try that may help. Additionally, you can lock the dimmer controls via the app so that the dimmer function is disabled and the lights always stay at the same intensity you set before locking.Working with Alexa is like any other smart device, you can tell Alexa to set it to 50% and the lights dim to 50%. You can turn them on and off and include them in any routines you need light control in.So all in all, this switch works wonderfully and I will likely install more of them in other rooms throughout my home.

Review: This is my fourth switch. I works great! Easy to install and program on the app with Alexa.

Title: Great Dimmer but Slider is Intrusive
Review: I’m going to start with my complaints since that’s probably why you’re reading this review:My complaint is that the dimming slider is right in the MIDDLE of the switch. You are able to dim the dimming slider by simply touching anywhere on the groove, so when I go into a room blindly, and vaguely tap anywhere on the face of the switch to turn it on, I inadvertently change the dimness to something other than what I want. As a result, I always have to turn it on and THEN adjust the brightness back up to where I want it. Unless, of course, I want to carefully walk into the room, look for the switch, and make a point of turning the light on by touching somewhere around the border of the switch. It’s also a bit hard to program a very specific program. Read on…The dimmer was very easy to install. You will probably need either a voltmeter or a voltage pen, otherwise I would have been unable to discern between line and load on the original switch. The other connections are easy. The box is quite deep so I really had to shove the copper wires back in the box to make them all fit. From a dimming standpoint, it works really well with my 60W LED lightbulbs. They dim down to literally nothing, there isn’t some sort of theoretical minimum to the dimming, beyond which they just shut off; you really can have extremely dim. That’s nice. When you click the switch to turn it on and off, the click is more akin to clicking a mouse button than throwing a breaker; it certainly doesn’t feel like it will survive 60 years of abuse, but maybe that’s just me. I like big mechanical toggle switches that CLACK when you switch them on and off. But this is not a problem. I must learn to be more dainty. On the bright side, you can adjust the brightness without turning the switch on. For example, let’s say you wake up at 3am but don’t want the lights on at 100%; you can slide your finger down the dimmer to the last dot, and THEN click the clicker to turn it on, so that they come on only at the low brightness. Nice!Programming it with the app takes a little bit of an expert to get it to do what I want, but lots of functionality is certainly possible. I really wanted to recreate one of the sunrise alarm clocks that fade light in over 30 minutes to wake you up “naturally” like the sun rising, but after seeing the price of those, I made my own with this switch.I set about ten Automation ‘alarms’ for every two minutes. The first one turns them on, the second changes the brightness to a value out of 1000, where 1000bright = 100%; 241bright would round to 24%. Anyway, these increase to about 60% (or 600bright) over about 20 minutes, and this works fine. The weird part is that you are allowed to combine functions together, but they don’t work. I put the following logic sequence: at 5:30AM, turn lights ON and set brightness 100bright. All this did was turn the light on to whatever the brightness was last time. You also cannot set two functions at the same time, i.e. one function for 5:30 to turn ON and a separate function at 5:30 to set brightness 100bright. Again, it will not work. I instead made a function that says if the light turns ON, set brightness to 100bright, and make that only valid from 5:29 to 5:31 am. That works. This kind of ‘loophole’ thinking is something I can imagine is frustrating to, say, your grandparents, who are simply trying to make the lights come on at a certain time, but a 29 year old software engineer would have no issue figuring it out. Just keep that in mind with the app.You can also assign a phrase in Siri to a function in the app, so you can use Siri on your Apple device to do different functions. That was a very pleasant surprise. In summary, as a dimmer switch, it works great except maybe my fingers are too fat or something. The programming takes a bit of getting used to, but it definitely works better than I was expecting.

Review: I’ve been hitting above average when it comes to lesser known brand on Amazon. And these Treatlife switches are definitely a hit.For the record, I’ve been playing with these since the day of x10/Insteon. I’ve had Gosung, Treatlife, Kasa and the Costco brand.BUILT QUALITY :Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the unit, it’s definitely up there with the big boys. It’s been up for about a month or so; I’ve turn power on and off multiple times = ZERO ISSUE, unit just reconnect to the router and off we go.INSTALLATION: *Please* make sure to watch some YT vids if you’re not familiar with basic electricity concepts (hot, ground, neutral, load, 3-way, 4-way, single-pole, switch loop, etc.). — SAFETY 1ST –That being said, you will need a neutral to connect. The negative aspect of almost all these switches (except the TP link Kasa), is that they all come with wired connectors and NO screw-connectors; plus the additional BULK makes for a tight fit. Getting them in a tiny standard electrical box can be fun, and by “fun” I mean torture; because you’ll have to stuff a few extra wire-nuts in there (Use smaller marrets to save space).CONNECTIVITY:For those having difficulties with pairing, please follow these steps, before initiating the connection process;- FORGET all the 5G networks on your device- FORGET all the 2.4g you will NOT be using to connect the switchThese will facilitate the process during initial installation. As far as the App goes, I don’t really care about the app, as long as I can link it back to my Google Assistant. The app is pretty standard and can be used to connect a variety of Smart Devices from similar brands.FEATURES: Overall, solid product for the price. I cannot comment in details about the features aside from “it does what it said it would do”.You can buy this one with confidence.

Review: I bought this for my home office that I’ve been automating with Google Assistant. I’m very happy with it. Wiring it was straightforward, since my existing dimmer switch was already wired with neutral, load and line. I had to work around one small issue related to my home wifi to set it up. I use Google Wifi and the repeater in my office is in Bridge mode. The switch doesn’t appear to be able to get an IP address through DHCP on a Bridge mode repeater, so I had to unplug it to for it to connect to the main wifi device in NAT mode. After that it was an automated configuration, and I easily added it to my Google Assistant. It works perfectly, and I think the range of dim-to-bright that this switch allows with my LED light bulb than what I could achieve with my old ordinary dimmer switch. 5/5 would buy again.

Review: This Smart Dimmer is great! Easy to install, comes with labels for your neutral, ground, line, and load wires. Works great! The app lets you adjust the minimum brightness level so it works for many different types of light fixtures. I used it for 6 LED pot lights and it works wonderfully – goes from near total darkness to full blast brightness, adjustable by Google voice controls, the Treatlife app, or the wall switch touch panel. Has a memory setting too, so it remembers what brightness you had your lights on last when you turn it back on. 10/10!

Review: The switch was very easy to instal. When hooking it up to the app, it told me to reset and wait for the lights to flicker. This never happened but I tried jumping to the next step and it worked. The switch is great. I set it up and linked it to my google home very easily. I only have one smart switch on this line so I can’t speak to cross talking. I would recommend it!

Review: Works well enough and importantly for a track light that was notorious for not working with dimmers. The only downside is that to dim below 30% you have to use the app. There is no reason for that at all except I guess to get our personal data. Not impressed. Minus two stars for that reason alone.
