Title: Like its predecessors
Review: This is yet another expansion of my four-station wireless home-phone network. Like its predecessors, it works fine… particularly in conjunction with my new usage of AT&T’s “Wireless Home Phone” device which essentially turns any land-line phone (or “network” of phones like mine) into a mobile (cell) phone. You just plug the phone into the small wireless device (provided free of charge) instead of the wall jack. In my case, I plugged in the base station of my wireless network. Among other things, this setup gives you a telephone number that can last a lifetime. If you move to another city, you take the whole works with you and continue using the “same old” phone number. Perfect for snowbirds, too. Better still, my cost of “land line” service dropped from $35 a month to $20, a rate which is unlikely to change… ever. I’m still paying exactly the same amount for my AT&T mobile phone service that I’ve been paying for the past 15 years. Like this mobile phone, my new “Wireless Home Phone” service provides unlimited calling and free long distance. There’s an old saying that goes, “If it seems to be too good to be true, it probably is.” Methinks this might be an exception.

Title: AT&T CRL 30102 Expansion Handset
Review: I purchased the CRL 30102 Expansion Handset to work with a previously purchased CRL 32102 base unit. If you look for my review under that product, all of the features mentioned there also apply to this handset.Registration of these additional handsets couldn’t be easier. First charge the handset in its base for 16 hours to give it a full topping up. Then, place the handset in your base unit. The process is then fully automatic, taking several minutes to complete. When done, the next available assigned number appears just to the right of “HANDSET” on the display. A nice touch, all of the settings you made setting up the base unit are automatically transferred to the expansion handset.Call quality is excellent, with no interference issues. I have had no problems within the 30 foot range in my apartment complex. The CRL cordless phone systems support up to 12 of these handsets.Excellent!

Title: Best for our purposes; maybe 2nd-best for others
Review: I spent several months testing one cordless phone system after another (via Walmart w free returns ;-):Vtech CS6629-3 – terrible, small display, small letters, etc.AT&T CRL82212 – generally very good, but wanted to try the other main brand that looked good:Panasonic KX-TG7745 – generally very good, but NO ability for any handset to page all handsets at the same time (only the base-station can do that); had to page one room after another. YUCK.So I finally settled on these AT&T CRL32202’s (base with handset plus 2nd handset), plus four more CRL30102’s; total of 6 handsets. (Couldn’t tell what their differences were from the CRL82212’s; maybe just that the earlier ones were from Walmart.)Upsides (for OUR purposes):The “all important” ability for any handset to page all handsets at the same time (or page only one at a time if preferred). Can have a maximum of 12 (TWELVE!) handsets (the Panasonic maxed-out at 5).Smaller base-station (Panasonic has a full keypad on KX-TG7745 base-station; takes more desk-space; however its otherwise identical KX-TG7731 DOES have a small base-station).This AT&T system is NOT a “link-to-cell” system (useless for us) (Panasonic above WAS link-to-cell, although comparable priced!).Keying-in characters seems to work better/faster than on the Panasonic.Equal-sides: Display almost as good as the Panasonic, except that AT&T’s backlighting seems to shut-off much more quickly.Downsides, compared to the Panasonic:Uses proprietary batteries (Panasonic uses standard rechargeable AA’s); will be more costly to replace when needed.NO option for plugging-in a wired headset or earset (Panasonic had a plug on the side of each handset, AND could use a bluetooth wireless earset!).NO option for hooking it on a belt (Panasonic includes reliable snap-=on belt hooks).Has a @#$%^ “equalizer” button on the side of each handset, much too easily pressed accidentally; very irritating.Speakerphone seems to be MUCH worse than the Panazonic; seems to have a MUCH greater delay in its half-duplex switching [ between talking and listening, essential to avoid feedback] than did the Panasonic.Upshot – We’re keeping these AT&T units, but ONLY because of the any-handset can page-all-handsets feature.Had it not been for that single feature, the Panasonic KX-TG7745 would have been MUCH better for us!

Title: Expansion Handset is Problematic
Review: The handset works just okay only because we have had some problems with the connection to the main base. The base AT&T CRL30102 is one of the best land-line phones we’ve ever had, however. Not sure why this expansion handset is not working quite as well, but it will serve it’s purpose for now.

Title: STATIC
Review: After only a few months it started having a lot of static on EVERY phone call. I always have to go across the room to my husband’s old-fashioned landline phone, then turn off this cordless. I’ve changed batteries and moved it to other locations. Nothing works. While it is easy to read and easy to use, it’s totally useless to talk on. The only thing I still use it for is to look at the screen and see who’s calling. Then I have to talk on the old landline.

Title: Worked perfectly
Review: The only reason we have a land line is that my elderly mother lives with us and cell phones are a foreign concept to her. The only problem is that she now has Alzheimer’s and either doesn’t answer the phone or doesn’t hear it so a lot of the people that call her was worrying that they couldn’t get hold of her and if I tried to get to the phone to answer it usually they had hung up by the time I got there, so I got this expansion handset to put in my room for easier access. It worked perfectly. It was easy to register it to the main phone base, which was something I was worried about when I ordered it, and now the only calls we miss is if we aren’t home. I can access the answering machine from this handset and listen to and delete messages without having to make it a chore. Loved this item!!!
