Title: No nonsense land line with answering machine
Review: I needed a land line when my current one died, plus my answering machine was ancient. Yes, I still believe in a land line. This replaced both old units and so far, so good. Plus it has a speaker phone so that’s a plus. Simple, no nonsense, user friendly. Sometimes you just don’t want everything routed to your cell phone and need a land line. It won’t break your budget.

Title: Perfect fit for my needs
Review: I was surprised how long it took me to find a phone like this. It’s like cars. There are so many options many of us don’t need and will never use. I was looking for a wall-mountable, land-line, wireless, speaker phone with an answering machine. Just one phone.Sounds easy, right? Good luck if you don’t want a bunch of extras like cell, multiple lines, multiple phones, etc. Many of the simpler systems didn’t have the speaker phone option, or weren’t wall mountable, or didn’t come with the mount. The phone was easy to set up and all the functions work as advertised. I like the speaker phone option because I can go about my business when I’m on hold or talk while I’m doing something else. There’s no ear jack. That would be a plus. The Vtech CS6629 was designed as a table unit, but has slots in the back for wall mounting. The base has a realitively small footprint, 5″ wide X 4″ deep and is about 2.5″ high. With the phone in its cradle, the top of the phone stands at about 7″ from the bottom of the base (the table level). The only down side is the wall mount itself. It’s obviously a generic mount made for multiple phone models. you can see the bottom half of the wall mount underneigh the phone. It would have been nice if the manufacturer had provided a cover for that portion of the mount. I didn’t downgrade my rating to four stars because I suspect most people aren’t interested in wall mounting. Since I have the power line hanging down the wall to a power plug, the installation isn’t pristine anyway. I think I’ll likely get used to the mount.I can’t comment on durability since I just put the phone in service.

Title: The Phone is a plus, but getting a phone line was a minus!!
Review: I gave it a ‘neutral’ three stars… See, here’s the thing: I went seven years without a home phone line; the cell phone was enough, especially since it was a Google Voice number. But then I switched cable service and the new one gave the always great first year rate, AND said that they would take a penny a month off my bill, if I took a home phone line! Sounds great, doesn’t it, a minus-penny a month for a phone line, from which I could dial 911, or have a means of communication if cell phone service was knocked out!Right now the phone is plugged in for power, but the phone line isn’t connected. Yeah, it’ll work for 911 and maybe when cell service is interrupted, but 15 minutes after I turned the phone on, I got my first call, from a business. And that business had been sold my name, my NAME and ADDRESS, by the new cable service. The stream of calls from businesses became relentless, and some of them, no matter how many times I said, “no thanks, not interested,” they kept calling. So I own this phone, and it works, but it’s not plugged in.

Review: Don’t buy this phone !! All of these poor reviews can’t be wrong ! It is garbage, first, the base ringer does not shut off as it is suppose to. I work nights so I need to turn base ringer off but still be able to get messages. Well, I turn off base ringer and it doesn’t shut off !! I am constantly being woken by telemarketers ! Also I erase all old messages, then see it flash later and it is just an old message that I deleted.Second and this will effect everyone, the phone itself is just to thin and when holding it I get cramps in my hand ! Also, if I try and hold it my hand often touches the buttons or covers the mouth piece. If you have arthritis in your hands it must be worse ! My old phone was thicker and I had no problem like this. I know that this review will just be buried among the many negative reviews about this phone as there are so many negative reviews, but I just had to warn you. DON”T BUY THIS PHONE !!!!!!!!
