Title: I Never Knew I Needed Smart Light Bulbs!
Review: This review is based on my short-term experience with the bulbs. I don’t know yet about longevity. Our house has a couple dozen can lights which we have replaced with LED bulbs and have been quite happy. However during a visit to our son’s house he showed us the Wiz Smart Bulbs he had installed and it occurred to us that they could be useful in our situation. I replaced a series of bulbs which were on the same switch with these BR30 bulbs. They just screw in like any regular light bulb and turn on and off with the switch if desired. Flipping the switch once makes them turn on in daylight mode. Flipping the switch twice makes them come on in warm white mode. They are LED bulbs which means they are very energy efficient. The 65 watt equivalent bulbs use about 8 watts of power. The real fun starts when you connect them to the app on either an Android phone or an i-Phone. You can turn them off and on from your phone, choose the color from 16 million colors, create schedules so that they turn on and off at specific times and they can even detect movement in the room and turn on automatically then turn off when you leave the room. All this means that after creating schedules for the lights we no longer have to dig out the timers and manually set them when we will be gone for a few days. We can set the lights to different modes or colors for different activities such as watching movies or having a party. Our front porch lights are also BR30 bulbs so I decided to try them out there. The bulbs are NOT rated for wet environments but our porch has a large overhang and the bulbs are can lights so they will never be exposed to rain. They will however be exposed to fog and temperature extremes so time will tell about longevity in that situation. Once installed and connected to the app I created a schedule where the porch lights turn on at sunset and go off later at night. The app knows your location and therefore your sunset and sunrise times. No need to install a photocell or change a timer according to the seasons. You can also change the bulb color for different seasons, orange maybe at Halloween, red and green at Christmas, etc. Fun stuff. You can choose the speed with which the lights turn on and off. For instance I think the default is 1 second to turn on meaning the lights slowly come up to full brightness over one second and turn off over three seconds. Not a must have thing but neat. Functionally they can be like regular bulbs with the ability to change colors or they can be used as real smart bulbs to automate lighting.All-in-all a cool thing I didn’t know I needed until I tried them! I just hope they last as long as my regular LED bulbs.

Title: Almost Perfect
Review: Overall, a great affordable option compared to Hue. No router. Unlimited number of devices (if I remember correctly). Pairing was a bit finicky. But once setup, Lights work almost perfectly. I’ve had one socket that doesn’t love blue sometimes; but I think it’s a socket issue. Have been durable for 3 years without needing replacement. I strongly recommend!

Title: User friendly and reliable smart bulbs
Review: I first bought one of these lights about 2 years ago, and there is some difference in color rendering between that bulb and these newer version bulbs, but they all work in the same app and work together well. These lights, once paired, are easy to use from Alexa or the phone app allowing routines to be set up and automation of the lighting.Color variation is vast and there are settings for warm or daylight with a single touch while it’s also possible to explore the range of colors by selecting from a color wheel. Overall, the range of colors is impressive and the selections of preset scenes makes it easy to find my preferences. There is a setting to use wifi signal to detect movement to activate the lights. In my experience, this is more gimmick than feature. It worked poorly and made the normal light functions fail.Of the multi-color lights that I have purchased, I keep coming back to this brand for ease of use and user interface on the app.Good enough that I now have 7 of this bulb in my home.

Title: Never could get this 2 pack to work
Review: I decided to give the Wiz Bulb BR30 lights a try, going against the wave of negative reviews, and boy, do I regret it now. I snagged a 2-pack, downloaded the Wiz App (not the outdated one), and started the pairing ordeal. The first impression wasn’t bad—the app spotted the bulb immediately. But as soon as it flashed “Done” on the screen, the bulb decided to go “Offline”. Not a good start, but hey, maybe it’s just a fluke. With a shred of hope, I tried the second bulb, but it too, dashed my hopes with the same “Offline” shenanigan. I thought, maybe they’re shy of the router? So, I moved them closer even though my home’s armed with a robust Unifi network with multiple access points. No dice. I even reserved an IP address using the bulb’s MAC address, which felt like I was going overboard for a light bulb. But alas, that didn’t help either.Running out of ideas, I contacted their support. The agent was friendly, suggesting a 3rd party app to troubleshoot my network. But then, she went off on a tangent, claiming my network was jam-packed with more than five devices, causing a digital traffic jam of sorts. This was far from true—I have a dedicated network for smart devices with a decent 10mbps bandwidth cap both ways. No major bandwidth hogs like streaming boxes in sight. When she claimed my 2.4GHz network was emitting a 5GHz frequency, I even provided a screenshot to prove otherwise. In retrospect, I should’ve just paid up for the Phillips Hue. This ordeal with the Wiz Bulb has left a bitter taste in my mouth. I faced similar hiccups with LIFx too, so maybe there’s a bigger issue with Unifi and smart home gear. But then again, most of my WiFi gadgets work just fine.I’ve attached screenshots of this ordeal, hoping to save others from this snare. The entire episode turned my Sunday into a day of futile tech-wrestling. I earnestly dissuade anyone considering the Wiz Bulb BR30. The hassle it brings to the table is far from worth it.

Review: I got this because I saw that it was compatible with homeassistant. It is nice that you don’t need to register anywhere to use the app either and the company seems to be pretty strong with privacy. It works well, pairs easily, and homeassistant accepts it! My only complaint (-1 star) is that all of the modes and fancy color scenes are not usable in HomeAssistant nor documented well enough so I can only use them through the app. On the other hand, the app itself really lacks for features like turning the alarm on on one light in a room and not the whole room.
