We’ve reviewed nearly every tool under the sun for making food, like chef’s knives or nonstick pans, so it only makes sense for us to find the best gear for transporting that food, too. We got our hands on the Yeti Rambler bowls and spent the past few months toting soups and salads around to test them. They offer double-wall insulation and have tight-fitting lids, making them great for all your outdoor dining needs. The lids keep bugs out and the insulation maintains temperatures, whether you’ve made piping hot queso or a chilled pasta salad.

The Takeaways

The Double-Wall Insulation Keeps Contents Cool (or Warm)

Serious Eats

Part of the Yeti Rambler series, these bowls are constructed with the same double-wall insulation as the brand’s well-known Rambler mugs. The set has three sizes: 1 quart, 2 quarts, and 4.5 quarts, which all excel at keeping foods cool or warm—ideal if you’re bringing a cold dish to a potluck and want it to stay fresh and crisp. We made heaps of chickpea salad and, after a few hours of refrigeration, kept a bowl out on the porch to see how it would fare. After two hours, the chickpea salad remained refreshingly cool.

They’re Leak-Resistant and Easy to Clean

Serious Eats

While not entirely leakproof, the press-on lids have a silicone gasket that does an excellent job of preventing liquid from splashing out. When we transported some matzo ball soup in the 4.5-quart bowl, the lid kept broth from seeping out during the bumpy car ride. They’re also dishwasher-safe according to Yeti, and we can confirm that after successfully running all three bowls and their lids through a few dishwasher cycles.

Do We Recommend Them?

Yeti Rambler Bowls, Set of 3

Yeti

We’re quite excited about the prospect of cold salads that actually stay cold throughout the duration of a beach day or backyard barbecue. These insulated bowls from Yeti are able to keep contents cool, so you can avoid lukewarm baba ghanoush or black bean salad. Plus, the tight-fitting lids keep stray bugs and dust out of your food. Available in navy, papaya, cape taupe, and white, you can grab a set of bowls in three sizes for $150 or purchase them separately, starting at $35 for the 1-quart bowl. If you prefer a wider base with shorter sides, you can grab the low bowls, ideal for serving tossed salads or sauced pastas.
