Review: 3.8-Inch version is easy to grasp and has the surprising magnification of a 5-inch dome. I bought a second one for the office after having one at home for six weeks. This is not just a dome shape. It is actually a 3.8 inch dome on top of a 3.8 inch disk; but it is all made in one contiguous solid piece (not two pieces). The flat vertical section around the sides is what I am calling the disc portion below the dome. It provides two advantages over a dome-only model. First, it makes it much easier to grasp and pick up than the kind that are only a dome because your fingers will tend to slip over a dome-only shape; and second, having the disk below the dome has the effect of raising the 3.8 inch dome portion up above the reading surface higher than it would otherwise be. And this increases the magnification to what it would be with a 5-inch dome while still being in a comfortable 3.8-inch diameter. Finally, the material is not glass but don’t let that scare you. It is a high-quality heavy-duty acrylic which also means that it is lighter and easier to pick up than a glass dome of comparable size. It is still substantially dense material, perfectly clear, and will not scratch or scuff. Don’t skimp. If you want the big one then get the big one. I paid $26 each for two of the 3.8 inch models and I expect to get 30 years of use out of these.

Title: Love saver for reading small print and diagrams
Review: These are great for magnifying anything on paper. They are heavy but they magnify great with no distortion. They also pull in the surrounding light which is a big bonus. They are a life saver for looking at small print or diagrams that are hard to read. At work we all have one as we are looking at diagrams that can be hard to read because they are congested and small.

Title: Shipped in a plastic bag!
Review: The magnifer is very nice and works well. I subtracted a star because they shipped this heavy object in a plastic bag in a box that wasn’t sealed. The magnifier survived, but the product box was destroyed in shipping. I’m glad this wasn’t a gift.I understand that shipping something in a bag rather than a box might be cheaper, but if the entire product doesn’t arrive intact, what is the point?

Review: This item is not a paper weight. Althoùgh you could use it as one when not using it as it was intended for. It is a acylic dome shaped manifing glass. You set it directly on the page, sketch or building plans and slide it about. The dome shape captures the light within the room and directs it down to what the dome is sitting upon. It keeps the images in perfect shape quality. Perfect for reading architectual plams that have been reduced to half or qtr. size. My place of employment after viewing thru this dome ordered some 10 of them so all the engineers, plan readers, or graphic designers didn’t have to strugle with viewing small details.This magnifier beats out the old fashioned glass on a handle by leaps and bounds!!!

Title: Works well with constuction prints.
Review: This 3.8″ acrylic dome magnifier is awesome and worth the price. My reading vision has started to change for the worse while working with construction prints on the job. So I purchased this dome magnifier and it is awesome. The images and writing are easy to read and with the dome shape, you can read from side view as well as look from above.

Title: Good…but inconsistant
Review: The product itself met my expectations. It’s a very useful tool for reading small print. However, I was ultimately disappointed and puzzled because I ordered quite a few 3.8 Inch versions for client gifts and discovered that the diameter varied slightly on several of the units. In addition, I received the total that I ordered in several shipments and one shipment had damaged product boxes because they were not packed properly. Very curious since the other shipments were packed very carefully and professionally.
