Title: Perfect upgrade from my apartments not smart T4.
Review: I live in an apartment which has the cheapest Honeywell T4 non smart/ wifi thermostats installed in the units. I wanted to use Alexa to control my room temp so I bought this for a perfect upgrade. It took less than 10 seconds to install. I just pulled off my old one and pushed in this new T5 and done. Easy 5 minutes to run through the wifi and app setup process and everything worked like a charm. My apartment had the exact same 5 wire pin out on the back so I didn’t need to change that, I didn’t need to open up the bag of screws or anything. A monkey could have done this upgrade. The touch screen looks really really nice, I can read the clear temp numbers from across my large living room.The app is easy to use and the touch screen is just as simple and easy to figure out. If you are doing an upgrade like myself but your current thermostat wiring is missing the 5th “common” wire, then this model won’t work. You would need to get the Z model T6 that comes with batteries for the backup power. They will provide the common wire power.Hope this helps you out.

Title: Just what I was looking for…
Review: We ordered two Honeywell thermostats for our house. Since we already had Honeywell thermostats, we thought the installation would be straightforward, as the wiring remains the same. However, we encountered an issue when both units defaulted to heat at the first installation. We couldn’t figure out the problem, so we searched online and found the solution. Once we confirmed the specifications of our compressor units, the second installation went smoothly. We were unaware that we had a heat pump.This energy-efficient device is easy to set up and connects seamlessly to Google Home. The remote control functionality is exactly what I wanted, and the size is perfect. I love that they have touchscreens and backlighting is spot on.

Title: Great product- easy to install great app
Review: Great thermostat- been using it for over a month and it works as intended. Very easy to set up, there is a lot of support videos on youtube if you are not handy. You might need a universal bracket to adapt to your wall hole but that is cheap and easy to find in amazon. Best of all? Not getting 150 thousand useless notifications from the app. Simple, to the point with smart functionality

Title: Good, not great. Seem slow to recognize temp and shut down air handler. GeoFencing messes it up.
Review: I would save your money on the new ones and just buy the refurbished models in these that they sell on Amazon. They would likely work just as well. I got the new ones for 75 on prime day. The refurbished ones sell for 60 all the time.They work for the most part. Setup is fairly simple. GeoFencing seems to break functionality for me, so I turned it off and just use alexa and the app to tell it to change temps when I leave the house.The screen is nice and I like that you can adjust the brightness from you phone. I don’t like that it goes down to just the temp reading in the house which is the sleep mode. I would prefer it just leave all the information up all the time so I can read it when I walk by without having to touch it.Make sure you know exactly what kind of heating unit you have. I just bought a new build and they told me I had electric heat without a heat pump. They told me wrong, and I do have heat pumps. If you put the heating and cooling information in the wrong during the app set up it will not call for the correct air. Make sure you double check this before installing, as I learned the hard way, and had to reset the thermostats and start all overI can’t speak on wiring it up as I didn’t need to that since I had the Honey Well pro series thermostats(Non-WiFi) in my house from the build. It was a plug and play method for me, which is why I bought these. Saved me a lot of time.Over all I like them, but I do feel like they take forever to register that the room is actually to temp and causes my AC to run a little longer. I’ll see how my electric bill compares to the month before without these installed and update my review. Also wish they didn’t go into sleep mode and instead showed all the information on the screen all the time. Also wish the GeoFencing feature worked better, but this could be more of an issue with my phone not registering in the area correctly. As I said, take a chance on the the refurbished ones it will save you some money and probably work just as well.

Title: Great install experience and then everything went downhill.
Review: Hardware is good. The ease of being able to update from a previous generation without having to muck about with wiring is the high point of this product. You can pop the old one off the wall and put the new one in. That’s smart! If only light switches and receptacles were made the same way. However, if you are buying this its probably because want to really make it work for you (automate), and that’s unfortunate because you have to deal with their software and their software is terrible. I have never been able to get this onto my network because the initial “sync” failed and now its just in a hung state. Their support is useless and they seem more interested in wasting your time so you will go away, than actually helping you. They ask you for things they don’t need to help you and don’t understand what it is they’re asking for. At no point when I was talking to them did they ask me “What seems to be the problem?” They told me that I needed to go reset my router because I wasn’t using 192.168 as my IP range. And at that point, I was 2h into trying to get this thing online and gave up. As someone else said, go get a different product rather than waste your time with this one.If Honeywell were smart, they would invest their money in an open source SmartThings project where their developers would work alongside people who were smarter than them rather than keeping Residio alive and having to deal with cloud infrastructure costs. No one is going to pay for an app in order to run their thermostat so this Residio exercise is just a waste of time and money for them.
